August 29 - New Guide Released

In Aid Of The Myreque Quest Guide

-Zonking Out

August 29 - Demons, Dragons and Giants

Quoted directly from Runescape.com:

Demons, Dragons and Giants

This week we have given some of our more popular creatures a bit of a make-over. We had noticed that while all our new monsters and villains were improving all the time, it meant that some of the old favourites were looking a little tired and neglected. Nothing quite brings out the sparkle in the KBD's eyes (all 6 of them) like a well deserved trip to the Ardougne training area for a workout and a day or two in the mime's make-up department.

Other beasts strutting their new-improved look include:

  • Blue, Red, Green and Black dragons
  • Fire, Ice, Moss and Hill giants
  • Lesser, Greater and Black demons.

Now, don't worry! These beasts still have all the same stats, effects and drops as they had before, so the normal care and attention should be followed if you're going to visit, or you'll be finding yourself in need of a makeover! Anti-dragonbreath shields, pots and food at the ready...

Just as we have in the past, we will continue to improve the graphics of the older areas of the game to keep them up to date with the high standard of updates.

Graphical improvements currently being worked on include Bats, Rats and Varrock!

  • You can find the forum discussion about it here

August 22 - Prayer Guide Update.

The new prayer information can now be found in our Prayer guide.

    August 22 - Runescape Updates!

    Quoted directly from Runescape.com:

Prayers, port to port transport and improved Axe:

New Prayers for Rangers and Mages

Fantastic new accuracy prayers are now available for rangers and mages! The new prayers boost the accuracy of magical and ranged attacks. Only one combat style of prayer can be used at a time, but all of them can be used with the defensive prayers.

Rangers can enjoy the accuracy enhancement of the Sharp Eye, Hawk Eye and Eagle Eye prayers, while mages will find their magical attacks improved by Mystic Lore, Mystic Will and Mystic Might.

    Charter Ships

Why spend ages walking from one end of the world to the other when you can charter a ship?! Take a cruise with Trader Stan and his crew of fashionably (if uncomfortably) attired sailors. They will carry you from port to port for an affordable fee, and sell you goods available from Port Phasmatys to the far-flung elf lands.

Their ships are docked in many popular places including Catherby, Port Sarim, Mos Le'Harmless, Port Phasmatys and more.

    Dragon Axe improved

Until today the dragon axe was only as good at cutting trees as a rune axe. We've now made it slightly better! However we have raised the woodcutting level requirement for chopping trees with this axe to 61.

    Bugfix for Bone Crossbows

A bug was fixed with the bone crossbow so that it will no longer fire the old pearl and opal tipped bolts. However it can now use bone bolts, all bare metal bolts up to and including iron and also barbed bolts.

    Loosely Quoted from Runescape.com:

    Naming conventions:

Many objects in the game have brackets in their names to indicate a special feature or function, such as Dragon dagger (p) for a poisoned dragon dagger. Some of the letters used in these brackets meant different things on different items. This got a bit confusing in a few cases, so we've renamed a few items so that the letters can be consistent. Please note that the items themselves haven't changed at all. We've just tweaked their names.

August 20 - The Runevillage Quiz!

Just a reminder to everyone about the RV Quiz. Participation has been dropping at a time when the Quiz is better than ever! Thanks to the continued dedication of cool guy89, we have been able to give out 400k as a prize for the last month or so, and this will continue. Last quiz, there was only one person who answered all the questions correctly, so they won the 400k by default! Look for a new quiz every 2 weeks in the quiz box to the right.

This week only we have a special prize. Quiz Team member A5Chow has volunteered to do 1 hour of slave time as the prize. This may not seem great, but he is a rune miner, and soon to be a 99 smith. You don't want to miss out on a chance at this!

Don't forget, to be eligible for the quiz you must be a member of the forums else we cannot contact you. To register, click on "The Pub" above and then the register button once you are in the forums. This is a great time to join in on all the fun that takes place on our forums! To do the quiz, just click on the link to the right. Enjoy!

August 14 - The Eyes of Glouphrie

    Quoted directly from Runescape.com:

Since your dealings with Glough and the plot to destroy the Grand Tree, things have been pretty quiet in the gnome world, save the odd escaped Terrorbird or drunken barbarian. Brimstail's not been lazing about though, oh no. He's found a strange machine, built by Oaknock the Engineer during the Golden Age of the Gnome which took place hundreds of years ago. What does the weird device do? Why on RuneScape was it built? What other secrets does it hold?

Agreeing to help fix this mechanical marvel is bound to be the easy part of this plot-rich, history filled quest, where an enquiring mind and an aptitude for puzzles are a must. You'll even get to see some of the most glorious moments of gnomic military strategy!

Can you uncover the new threat (or is it an old one?) to gnome security? Rewards include a useful little crystal tool, which we are sure the constructors out there will enjoy.

The Quest Guide can be found here.

August 13 - Runescape Skill Calculator!

Many of you have probably seen this calculator on the forums, but now it is finally officially on the site over here! If you wish to find it back later, check the updated Special Features page.

This calculator fills in all the needs you may have to calculate on Runescape! If you need to know how many items you have to make to gain a level, or how much experience the pile of ingredients in your bank gives, you should check this out!

The calculator can also help you training skills with useful hints, and most items have an own tool tip with interesting information about it's location, purpose or something else!

The calculator also contains a Combat Calculator, able to calculate when you are going to raise a combat level (though there may be some inaccuracies of course). If you fill in your username, it's even able to get your personal skill information!

Please note that you'll have to accept a certificate prior to using the Calculator. Without this certificate, the Calculator wouldn't be able to use your username to get your skill levels.

    August 11 - RuneScape Classic!

As you can see the Header has been adjusted, it now contains a RuneScape Classic link. Clicking it will take you to another part of RuneVillage with an adjusted Header which leads to all of the RSC guides.

This means you will no longer have to choose whether you want to view the RSC or RS2 guides, every link will lead straight to the RS2 guides.

In other news the Experience Table located in the Skills menu has had a change of layout, created by Sherbros. And the changing header bug has been fixed, it should remain the same no matter what section of the site your visiting. Should you notice a section where it doesn't or a dead link please send me a PM.

Please note that the layout of guild/skills guides page is not yet final and that the Inhabitants link currently links back to the Index, this has been done on purpose.

    August 10 - Update

Today it's my turn to keep you informed what I've been doing today. The Shops of Runescape guide has been corrected, expanded and enhanced quite a lot.

Next to that I've been busy updating some parts of the Interactive World Map, updating these areas requires a lot of time because I'm also implementing a new engine for it, that should ease the updating work later on.

As last, I've done several small updates, including updating images and removing typing errors.

    August 9 - Update

Well I thought I would let you guys and girls know what I did on my first day. I spend some time on moving the Music guide from the forum onto the Main Site, as well as altering the layout a bit.

And the archive is up and running again! The Main Site was getting rather large so all of the news entries until last July have been added to the Archive, the link is available on bottom of the News Section. Which is now a lot shorter I might add..
