'Pub Humor' succeeded by project 'Default'

THE VILLAGER - It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye, or, in the case of 'Pub Humor', it all ends when the artist moves on to something else.

That’s the way the cookie crumbles, but luckily for us fans of Goten’s issue-based comic, he’s dishing out something completely new for us. This in-the-baking comic goes by the project name “Default”.

But what does this all mean? Goten gave us the chance to receive some enlightenment on the matter by providing with us a short Q and A and a little teaser to satiate our comical taste buds.

What is 'Default'?

Default is a comic series that I'll be releasing in The Villager starting with the Summer 08 issue.

So it's a new comic series, like 'Pub Humor'?

Not quite - Although there will be comedic moments in Default (As any good series should include), Default will actually be following a plot line. (Unlike Pub Humor of which consisted of random jokes and characters.)

Okay, so what's it about?

Default will follow the adventures of the moderator team and staff of RuneVillage - Although, with the theme being an adventure series, the abilities and conflicts will be much different than the basic everyday junk. This will be explained better as the series goes on.

Why's it only follow staff? I feel left out!

Sadly, not everyone in the village can be included - That's just too much. With the staff, there's a plot to be had and events to be followed, and it creates an all around interesting series. There will be many characters who are totally made up - Just keep in mind that it's all done in sake of the plot. It's a RuneVillage-based comic to an extent, but I can't heavily include villagers.

Well with the Villager starting its quarterly release, how in the world are you going to get anywhere with this series?

This actually works out well, because each page takes about ten hours of work to complete. (Crazy, I know, but it's a hobby of mine so I'm okay with it.) Anyway, each issue will consist of multiple pages, so a three month period will give me plenty of time to complete a decent amount of pages for each Villager. As far as getting anywhere with the series, hopefully I'll produce enough pages per issue to carry the series well enough. If not, I may start releasing (posting) issues in between Villagers, but we'll have to wait and see.

How many pages per issue will you be making?

I haven't decided this yet, but I'm thinking at least three per issue. But with the Villager starting to be released quarterly, I'll probably shoot for five or more per issue.

Okay, so this sounds cool, but will you be continuing Pub Humor?

This is going to be a no, sorry. Pub Humor was fun while it lasted, but it got stale for me after the first few comics. With a plot line to follow, characters to develop, and more room for creativity to flow, Default will prove to keep my interest in making it - I'm sure.

When will the first issue be?

The release was originally planned for the Spring 08 Villager, but as I explored my options in enhancing the artwork quality (being limited to MS Paint), Aznpkilla and I formed a partnership. Because he will be going back and cleaning up the completed first issue's artwork, expect its release no later than the Summer 08 Villager.

Who's on the cover?

From top left to bottom right: Aznpkilla, Jaron, Me (Goten) and xxpk. This will make more sense when the first issue's released.

The comic is set to debut in June with the Summer 08 issue of The Villager. How the comic will release thereafter is currently undiscussed.
