East Ardougne City Guide

Here is a general layout of Ardougne, with numbers to indicate specific important points of interest.

Number 1: The natural thieving guild!

OK, here is where thieves spend all their time well, thieving! It has virtually everything a thief needs to be happy! The little icons that are a slice of bread indicate a bakers stall. It requires level 5 thieving to steal from and you get loads of goodies.

When you steal from this stall you get either: A cake, a piece of chocolate cake, or a loaf of bread. Beware as with all stalls don't attempt to steal in front of a guard or the stall owner as they will attempt to attack.

Also in that general area are the silk stalls, they require level 20 to thieve and you get silk (imagine that...) Silk has virtually no use but after you steal it, wait a while and sell it back to the owner for 60 gold!

Then at that 'thieving HQ' there's a fur stall. The thieving level required for this stall is 35. Like the silk gray wolf fur has no use but bank them, then sell them to Baraek, the fur trader in Varrock, who will buy them for 120 gold each!

At level 50 you can steal from the silver stall. That gets you silver ore, great for crafting!

Level 65 thieving gives you access to the spice stall. Spices are useful in cooking.

Then last, but definitely not least (quite the opposite...) The gem stall. 75 thieving to get all those pretty gems, and we all know what they're used for.

Also while were there you can pickpocket all the NPCs!

Number 2, Banks

OK, we all know what a bank is. The extremely friendly Ardougne bankers will gladly keep your belongings safe for you. With two convenient locations for all your banking needs. One North, one South.

Number 3, What big city doesn't have its own port?

A very sea worthy ship and captain to take you to the great shores of Brimhaven for the small fee of 30gp! Much calmer than those turbulent gnome gliders...

Number 4: The Mill

Ah where did you think everyone in Ardougne gets their food? Did you think that the bakers stall just magically has cakes and bread? These trusty farmers tend their fields to feed the ever growing city of Ardougne. They have 2 main crops, grain and potatoes. Due to the large number of crops these master farmers produce every year they allow fellow villagers (such as yourself) access to their grain and tater tots. Also inside the farmers house, his wife has set out a nice cooking apple for travelers to munch on as they pass by. Then go a few steps North and you'll come to the mill.

Just take your grain in, head all the way to the top of the mill. Put the grain in the hopper up then, surprisingly, operate it.

Then climb back down and empty the flour bin. To see what goodies you can make go to www.runescape.com , click on the manual > skills > cooking. Or check the cooking guide here at Runevillage.

Number 5: The Flying Horse Inn

Yup, the number 5 is the trusty Ardougne pub. Great for a refreshing drink after a long days work.

They have many fine selections there, just ask the bartender what he serves.

This pub is a great place to just sit and rest, or to make new friends. There's not much upstairs but it connects with the house next door for all of you that sunburn easily or have allergies. There's also a couple of quests that start near here.

Number 6: The Furnace

Now this is not just any furnace, this is the Ardougne furnace!! They used only the most durable of metals to create this and workmen check it every day to ensure its in top working condition. This is amongst the best places to smelt your ores. It is the furnace that is the closest to a bank giving it a high reputation to uphold.

Just put in your ores and voila!, you have bars, quicker than any other furnace in RuneScape.

Number 7: The Church

Feeling battle weary? Been praying to Saradomin for something, and feeling worn out? Then head over to the church to recharge.

Just pray at the altar and you have full prayer points again! And there's a high priest here that you can talk to if you need to confess something.

Number 8: The Ardougne general store!

Every town has a general store, this ones not much different. People buy and sell stuff here (they seem to have a lot of cakes, ,and silk in stock, thieves must steal it then sell it in the same town ) This general store however has water filled vials. The shop keepers can tell you how well they sell.

A lot of herbalists get their vials from this store and as fast as the shopkeepers restock, the demand is just so high that you have to be fast.

Number 9: Ardougne Zoo

This exotic zoo features many rare and interesting species. Everything from snakes and monkeys, to Jogres and a Cyclops!!

All we know about the Cyclops is that it is from a distant land, we don't know more because the adventurer died shortly after...

Also they have beautiful unicorns and hearty camels from the desert lands of Al-Kharid.

The zoo is a great place to see all the wonderful creatures of RuneScape as well as spend a nice evening with the family. And best of all its free!

Number 10: Ardougne Mansion

Ahhh, the tourists flock to the Ardougne mansion. It has many famous paintings and some rare handcrafted furniture. Unfortunately I came during business hours so I couldn't get a tour. There are guards on every floor and a very big guard dog roaming around. Also there's a wonderful garden and fountain area outside with the very friendly gardener, Horacio. It is also reputed to come in handy in the Tribal Totem quest.

Number 11: Ardougne Castle!

Wow, you notice how amazing the castle is right at the gate. It has a bridge going over small river and the gate is amazing! 100% stone wall with a steel portcullis to come down. Very fortified.

There are cannons and men to man them on top and upstairs is King Lathas! There are paladins all over to ensure protection for his royal highness.

Number 12: The Mine

Right outside of Ardougne to the East is a mine. A very handy mine with coal and iron rocks there. Its never all that crowded so I like it. It contains 11 iron rocks and 13 coal rocks. Its the best place to mine iron in my opinion because all you have to do is stand here...

...And you don't even have to move to get iron. You mine each rock, and even with high level miners who mine iron in a single swing, the rocks are spawning before you finish the 3rd rock...no time wasted and you don't even have to move your character!! Very easy iron and close to a bank too, also good for power mining.

Ah yes, last but most definitely not least, the Nature Rune chest!

Just East of all the stalls, right when you walk in the East gate, your going to come to a couple houses. Go to the one to the South, pick lock the door to get in.

Just head upstairs and you'll see two chests. Disarm the one to the North and you'll get a nature rune and 3 gold coins. Disarm the other one and you'll get 50gp each time you open it. For even higher level thieves there is the notorious blood rune tower.. but I think I'll keep the location of that to myself. Happy hunting!
