This City is known as the City of the Dead. The Quest starts out as the Spirit of the former High Priest is plaguing the City because his remains have been stolen. Cows now produce Sour Milk, Locusts are attacking Produce, the Frogs of the River are Plagued.

To enter the City, you must start the Icthlarin's Little Helper Quest. You need to bring your Kitten/Cat/Overgrown Cat with you.

  • Entering the City

There are two main ways of entering the City. If you have not done the Quest, you need to go to the Rock beside the Tent that is north of the City. The Locusts (Level 18) will attack you.

If you have finished the Quest, you may enter the City using the main Gate that is on the north Side. Just talk to the Priest and he will let you through. However, it is faster to reach the City by using the Rock to enter. After finishing the Quest, the Locusts will no longer attack you.

To leave the City, you may use the Main Gates of the City, or you can climb through the Hole on the east Wall. You will appear back at the Rock that you can enter the City from.

  • Pyramid

Head into the Pyramid by right clicking then select Open Door, on the north Side of the Pyramid. You will need your Kitten/Cat/Overgrown Cat to enter. I also suggest you bring Anti-Poison Potions and Food here.

Once you enter, turn on Run. Pass the first Obstacle by standing to the farthest Corner of each Wall Crusher. Then click on the diagonal Corner to cross, if you get hit, you will lose eight Hit Points.

You will have to pass more Wall Crushers again. Go through it by heading to the closest Corner to the next moving block and click diagonally. Head through the Maze, and there will be Level 84 Mummies and Level 92 Scarabs that Poison you here. Once you reach the end and come to the Pit, jump-across the Pit by clicking on the closest Side of the Pit to you. If you fall you will appear back at the Mummy right after the Pitfall area.

On both Sides to the north, there will be Burial Chambers. There are Sarcophaguses along the Walls. If you search them, you will loot a Gold Bar. If you click on the Sarcophagus too many times, you may get damaged or Level 92 Scarabs will come out of the Ground.

On the east Side, before the large Pits, there is a Chest. To go to the Chest, follow this Path. There will be Wall Crushers you need to pass before you reach the Chest.

You will have the Option to leave the Chest or take the Gold Pieces. There are 50 Gold Pieces in the Chest.

  • Plagued Cows

The Cows on the most northwest Side of the City are dying because of the Plague. They produce Sour Milk now. You can pet the Cows and you will feel sorry for them.

Using a Bucket on a Plagued Cow:

  • Blocked off Bridge to Menaphos

The Bridge to Menaphos is blocked off by a Cart and a few Crates. Jagex mentioned that we will be able to access the City later on in the future.

  • Sphynx

Sphynx is located near the center of the City, in front of the Pyramid's Entrance. In order to talk to her, you need your Kitten/Cat/Overgrown Cat. She has no friends and she only wishes for eternal life. She will tell you a little bit about what's going on in the City. She is the one who helps you for the first part of the Quest. Answer her Riddle incorrectly and you will lose your Cat. If you have done the Quest, you can get another Amulet of Catspeak from her. After doing the Quest, it looks like there will be more Quests later on from the Sphynx.

  • Centre Piece

This looks to be a place to perform future Rituals. If you search it, it will say, "The Centre of the Fount is empty apart from three or four Salt Crystals."

  • Temple of the Lesser Gods

  • Neite the Cat

You can speak to Neite the Cat and she will tell you about herself, the City, Sphynx, Bob the Cat, and the Devourer. She is basically your City Guide. You will need the Amulet of Catspeak though.

  • Carpenter

The Carpenter is located east of the City. This foreshadows the Skill of Carpentry. He will be making the Holy Symbol for the Quest with a Willow Log. Business seems to go even worse for him after you've done the Quest.

After the Quest, the Carpenter will want to buy a constant supply of Willow Logs. He will buy them for 40 Gold Pieces each. You will have to give him the Logs in piles of 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20.

  • Linen Workers

East of the City, you will find two Linen Workers. One of them won't talk to you. Speak to the one with the Purple Cloth over his Head. His name is Raetul. He will complain that adventurers are trouble makers but they give him the most business.

Here is what you can buy:

  • High Priest

The High Priest seems to lack confidence, but People will say he is a vital part of this City. He became the High Priest not too long ago so he is unsure of how to do many things. He will be very important for the Quest. The High Priest is the first Person you get the Amulet of Catspeak from.

  • Embalmer

The Embalmer is southwest of the City. He prepares the Materials for the Quest. Upstairs of his House, you will find an Embalmers Book by Bod. E. Wrap. Outside the House is a Spice Stall. If you search the Spice Stall, the Embalmer will tell you it is closed. After the Quest, the Embalmer will continue buying Buckets of Sap for thirty Gold Pieces each, and Bags of Salt for twenty Gold Pieces each. You will be able to sell in increments of 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20.

  • Klenter

Klenter is the Ghost located west of the Sphynx. He was the previous High Priest of Sophanem. Because of Tomb Raiders that steal remains, he remains restless. He is the cause of the Plague in the City. He will be very angry at you because you took his Remains. You will need an Amulet of Ghostspeak to talk to him.

  • Slaves

While doing the Quest, if you talk to one of the Slaves, he will say that he's glad he doesn't have to work because of the Plague. After doing the Quest, he will be very ungrateful because he has to work again.

  • Plagued Frogs

Plagued Frogs are located west of the City, by the River. They are Level 11 and they move around by hopping.

  • Locusts

Locusts do not drop anything, they are Level 18, located by the east Wall. If you have not finished the Quest, they will attack you but if you have, they will ignore you. They too, move around by hopping.
