Beginning The Quest
Items Required: None
- To start, talk to the cook in the Lumbridge kitchen and ask whats wrong. He will need your help to gather the ingredients for his cake: a pot of extra fine flour, a bucket of top-quality milk, and a really big egg.
Gathering the ingredients

- If you do not already have a pot, there is on in the Lumbridge castle kitchen. There is also one on a table in our destination Walk north following the path from outside of the castle until it turns west, just down here is a mill. Talk to the lady in charge, Millie Miller. Tell her you need extra-fine flour for the Duke's cake, and she'll set up the mill to produce that for you.
- Next to the mill is a field full of grain, pick some. Take your grain to the top floor of the mill and place it in the hopper, then operate the hopper. This will grind your grain into flour which you can pick up by using your pot with it on the bottom floor of the mill.
- To get an egg you will need to find one of the two chicken coops in Lumbridge. There is one near the sheep pen, and one across the cow pasture we'll be getting milk from. Find yourself the big egg among the bunch and pick it up.
- If you do not start with a bucket, there is one in the Lumbridge castle kitchen cellar. There is also on within the farmhouse across from the pasture, and one conveniently placed next to the Prized dairy cow you'll be milking. To get its milk, however, you will also need to ask Gillie Groats for permission. Upon getting it, simply Use your bucket on the Prized dairy cow and get some Top quality milk.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Can I now use the Lumbridge castle range?
- A: Yes after completing this quest you can use the range in the Lumbridge castle. If you talk to the chef again, he even gives you a manual to show what will get burned less while using it.
- Q: Can I make cakes for myself?
- A: You sure can! Check out our cooking guide to see how. You need to have at least 40 cooking, though.
- Q: Do I need to get the higher quality things, or will lower grade items work?
- A: You at least need the Extra fine flour. This quest can still be done with regular milk and a normal egg. There is no difference in reward, either, depending on what you do.
