The Haunted Mine Quest Guide

To Start: Talk to the Zealot near the end of Mort Myre Swamp, past the Bridge and through the first long stretch of the Swamp.

Items Needed: Your best Weapon and Armor, Food; lots for the fight, trust me; a Chisel and a Ball of String for your Amulet later; Teleportation Runes are advised, also bring a Pickaxe to mine here later.

Quest Guide:

  • Go to the Zealot near the Mines and say you follow Saradomin and ask him what he is doing here. He will tell you about the Zamorak Mage protecting some "Sacred Crystals" down there and saying how he will kill all who try and steal them.



  • Pickpocket the Zealot to obtain a Key.

  • Go southwest and you will see a Mine Cart blocking the Entrance to a Cave. Jump over it and go in.



  • Go west and enter using the first Ladder you see. Go east, then north near a large Door. (It's best if you follow the Tracks) See the Ladder? Go down it.



  • The next part is tricky. Set 'RUN' to 'ON' and proceed to the east Corner where the Mine Cart is. Move in close to the Wall positioning yourself not to get hit but close enough to get to the other side quickly. When the Mine Cart is in its back position, make a dash for the other side and go down the Ladder.



  • Let the fun begin; Run down this Path to the Fork and make a southeast dash behind the large Water Holding Device. Use your Key on the Valve and it will open. Depending on your Agility Skill Level, you'll need approximately 50 percent of your Running Energy. Click to the other side of that Pipe to get down into the Mineshaft. A Ghost will appear around the Fork Area and attempt to turn off the Valve; you must get down the Mineshaft before the Ghost can shut it off.



  • Good job, you're in the Lower-Level of the Mines now. Click on the Shaft in the Water to go up, then swim back in and go up. Don't bother with the Valve anymore.



  • Next is another fun part! Go either west or east down the Path and into the Staircase. You soon discover that it is very dark and you need some Light. Now, backtrack to the Mineshaft Entrance.



  • When you get back up the first Ladder that you went down, you will see a small Crawlspace paralleling the Tracks. Go through it and the next one exiting on the opposite side of the Mining Area.



  • Go down the series of Ladders that follow, and when you get to a large Track with a Mine Cart stop there for a bit.



  • Notice the Mine Cart moving up and down the Tracks? Do not let it hit you as you can get hurt from it. Instead, make your way up the Tracks, hiding in the Alcoves to the side whenever the Cart comes. At the end of the Tracks, go down the Ladder.



  • Pick some Glowing Fungus and bring it to the Cart, which is towards the west. Use the Glowing Fungus with the Cart.







  • Now go up the Mining Cart Path to the Point Settings Board.



  • Look at the Board, notice where it says to start and end, also make note of where the Ladder is. Be positive that it is set up like this and the Mining Cart will not end up crashing. It does NOT reset when you log out or leave the general area.





  • To get the Switches you first have to find them. From the Point Settings Board, go northwest to find three Switches. Switch them accordingly to match the Board in my Picture. The rest of the Switches are on the other side, go north after passing the Fungus Filled Mine Cart.



  • When everything is like mine, and your Mining Cart is filled with Fungus press the START Switch on the Point Settings Board and watch the little Mine Cart travel to the Ladder.

  • Now head back to the Starting Room again, this time go down the first Ladder, which we went through at the beginning.

  • Now head back to that Cart you had to dodge to get to the Pipe Room Area, but this time don't go east past the Cart, head all the way west instead, then north and down the Ladder.



  • Yes! It's our friend the Cart! He has your Glowing Fungus ready for you to use down in the dark spooky Rooms back past the Pipe Rooms. Now let's go down that Shaft again, and descend into the veil of darkness.

  • Great, now that you have a Light Source you can head down the Path east and down that Ladder. BOSS FIGHT COMING NOW! I hope you brought Food!

  • When you head down the Ladder, go through the Door to the west, and into the large Construction Room. See that so called Innocent Looking Key? Try to grab it and it will pull away! Treus Dayth will appear and attack you, and so will everything else! Use the Protect From Ranged Prayer; this seems to help against the Pickaxes. Now, you will have to defeat this Boss by hitting him as he teleports around the Room, while avoiding the Mine Carts, Cranes and of course, the Flying Pickaxes!!! This Fight is tough, but if you have enough Food it should be a breeze.

    Tip: Keep Protect From Ranged Prayer on. Ranging him might be effective. Have your running Energy to 100 percent if you are doing Combat. It is a good idea to stop back at the Nature Spirit Alter in the Swamps to re-charge your Prayer.







  • Now make your way past the Pickaxes to the west side of the Room and down those Stairs. See a large Door? Go through it.



  • Grab your Chisel and run to the south end of the Room. See the pretty Purple Spiky Crystals? Break off a piece, and...

Salve Amulet: Gives 15 percent Strength and Accuracy Bonus against Undead Monsters: +3 in Stab, Slash, Crush, Defense and Prayer Statistics. If you drop yours, you can mine more, pick it up to obtain more. It gives less Defense than a Dragon Amulet, but it's very effective against Undead Monsters.
