Part One: The Kharazi Jungle and Ungadulu


  1. Speak to the Legends Guards south of the Legends guild by the gates. They will tell you Radimus Erkle wants to speak to you. Head north pass the Legend gates and enter the building on your left to speak to him. He will ask you to go on a mission of mapping the Kharazi jungle. In addition, he will ask you to meet the tribe of the Kharazi Jungle and return with some sort of gift or token to display in the Legends guild. Accept this task and he will give you Radimus' notes.



  2. Teleport to Ardougne and bank. Withdraw at least 150 coins. Head south to the port. Pay 30 coins to Captain Barnaby or wear your Ring of Charos(a) and charm him to ride the boat for free. Or, you can use your Amulet of Glory to teleport to Karamja and walk to Brimhaven. Look for Hajedy and his cart and ask him to take you to Shilo Village. You will need to pay a random amount of coins.



  3. Once you arrive, head east to the Shilo Village bank. Bank and equip yourself with armour, a weapon and a Ring of Life. In your inventory, you need 1 Hatchet, 1 Machete, approximately 5 pieces of Charcoal, 5 Papyrus, Radimus' notes, and some Food.



  4. Head further east and exit Shilo Village by passing through two gates, a wooden one and a metal one. Beware of the Undead ones (level 68) that attack you as you pass through the gates. Right click and search the cart east of the gates to climb over.



  5. Once you do that, head south of Shilo Village and walk west along the mountains that separate Karamja Jungle and the Kharazi Jungle. You will come across a small forest of Jungle Bushes and Jungle Trees that separate each mountain. Click on the Jungle Trees or Bushes to cut through it. Continue cutting your way to the Kharazi side of the jungle. You will receive some logs in your inventory when you cut down a Jungle tree or bush.



  6. Once on the other side, start mapping by right clicking on your Radimus' notes and selecting the Complete option.



  7. Your character may make a mess but you should manage to save paper. If that happens try mapping again. You may also fail to map and ruin both Charcoal and Papyrus.



  8. When you have successfully mapped the part of the jungle, it will go directly into Radimus' notes. If you are unsure which parts you already have mapped, you can try mapping and your character will let you know that you already have mapped that particular area. There are three parts in which you need to map: Western, Middle, and Eastern. To map the other parts of the jungle, you must walk into the area. You may encounter the Jungle Savages (Level 90), the Jungle Wolf (Level 64), and Oomlie Bird (Lvl 46) along the way. Only the Jungle Wolves are aggressive.



  9. Once you have finished mapping all three areas, your scroll ends will turn from red to a green colour.



  10. Head north again, and make your way out of the Kharazi Jungle. At each entrance of the jungle, there are approximately 2 Jungle Foresters close by it. Speak to one of the Jungle Foresters. Ask if they have seen any Natives around. They will tell you about this artifact they have found that attracts Natives and they are willing to trade it for something interesting. Show them your map and they will want to copy it, and in return, they will give you a Bull roarer. Let them copy and obtain the Bull roarer from them.



  11. You will no longer need any extra Papyrus or Charcoal for this part. You now have the option to bank at Shilo Village and withdraw more food. Keep your armour, weapon, and Ring of Life equipped. Have your Hatchet, Machete, Bull Roarer, your newly completed map, and some food in your inventory. While you are at the bank, withdraw approximately 6 Gold bars and a hammer. Keep one inventory space open. You will only need 2 Gold Bars for this part, but you may fail and lose them.

  12. Make your way south into the Kharazi Jungle by cutting your way through again. Swing your Bull Roarer by clicking on it. Swinging the Bull roarer near the monsters in the Kharazi Jungle may cause them to attack you because they dislike the sound. The swing should result in a member of the Kharazi tribe to come out. If your swing was not successful, try again.



  13. At this point, a member of a Kharazi tribe named Gujuo will come out to speak to you. Talk to him and introduce yourself. He will say that his tribe thinks the totem that they have is evil and he wants you to throw it away to make a new one from the trunk of a Yommi Tree which no longer exist. However, you can obtain seeds of the Yommi Tree from a man named Ungadulu who is being held against his will in the western part of the Kharazi Jungle.



  14. There are three rocks that mark the entrance to the cave he is held in. Search and enter the rocks. If you get stuck, you will be done five damage and you will need to try again. Agility potions will work if yours is below 50.



  15. Click on one of the three Mossy rocks to search them. An option to crawl into the caves will appear. Select yes when you are ready.



  16. Once you have entered the cave head southeast where you will see a fire wall shaped in an octagon. In the center of it, you will see Ungadulu, level 169. Speak to him and he will tell you that to douse the flames, you will need Holy Water. If you attack him, he will cast a spell on you to throw you out of the Fire wall and you take damage. Head back outside to the Kharazi Jungle and swing your Bull roarer again. Gujuo will appear.



  17. Ask him about the Holy Water and he will describe a pool of water in the center of the Jungle that is sacred to the natives. He will also give you a crude Sketch of a bowl, as Holy Water cannot be stored in any regular container; only a "bowl made of the metal of the sun." He will tell you that he will bless the bowl when you bring it to him.

  18. The "metal of the sun" refers to gold. If you have not banked earlier to take out approximately 6 Gold bars and a Hammer, do so now at Shilo Village. Keep the Sketch in your inventory. Make your way north of Shilo Village to Tai Bwo Wannai. Use one of your Gold bars on the anvil in Tai Bwo Wannai. You should be able to make a bowl out of Gold. If you fail, you will lose 2 Gold bars. It will give you 30 Smithing Experience.



  19. Head back to Shilo Village and Bank. Have your armour, weapon, and Ring of Life equipped. Bring a Hatchet, a Machete, Radimus' notes, the Bull roarer, the Gold bowl, 1 Pickaxe, approximately 5 Lockpicks, 1 Soul rune, 1 Mind rune, 1 Earth rune, 2 Law runes, 1 Cut Opal, 1 Cut Jade, 1 Cut Topaz, 1 Cut Sapphire, 1 Cut Emerald, 1 Cut Ruby and 1 Cut Diamond.

  20. Head back down into the Kharazi jungle and swing your Bull roarer. Gujuo will appear and you will ask him to bless your Gold bowl. You will bless it with him. If you fail, you will lose Prayer points. Your Gold bowl will now be named Blessed Gold Bowl.

  21. Once you manage to bless your bowl, head to the Water Pool in the middle of the Kharazi Jungle, indicated on the map below.



  22. Use your Machete on one of the two Tall Reeds to obtain a Hollow Reed in your inventory. Use the Hollow Reed on the Water Pool. Your Blessed Gold Bowl should now be filled with Holy Water. You will lose your Hollow Reed after filling your Gold Bowl.



  23. Now head back to the cave where Ungadulu is being held.



  24. Use your Blessed gold bowl of Holy water on the Fire Wall. Dousing the flames will not reduce any amount of water from your bowl. You will then enter the octagon. Search his Desk located inside the Fire Wall. You will receive the Shaman's Tome. Read the Tome. Then attempt to talk to Ungadulu. You will then notice that he is possessed. He will then cast you outside of the Fire Wall and drain your Attack, Strength, Defence, and Hit points.



  25. From the Fire Wall, head north east to the almost-empty Bookcase. Right click it, and search it. Select yes to enter the Crevice. If you get stuck, search the Bookcase again.



  26. You will enter another part of the cave. Your first obstacles are large Ancient doors. Right click the doors and search. You will need to use your Lockpicks here. If you fail, you will lose your Lockpick.



  27. Your next obstacles are three large Boulders. Click on each Boulder to smash them. You will receive Rocks in your inventory when successful.



  28. You will then come across an Ancient Gate. To open the doors, you must have 50 Strength. Click on them. If you fail, you will temporarily lose three strength points. Careful: there are aggressive level 83 Death Wings on the other side.



  29. Run further south pass the Death Wings and follow the path. You will come across a Jagged Wall. Right click and jump over it. If you trip and fall, it will inflict some damage on you.



  30. Continue down the path to the end of the cave. On the south west wall, there will be a Marked Wall. Search the Marked Wall and it will give you a hint on what runes to use on the wall to enter it. Use your Soul rune, your Mind rune, your Earth rune, your Law rune, and finally your last Law rune. The door in the wall will open a bit and you will squeeze through.



  31. You will then enter a large cave with seven pools of water with Carved rocks in them. Use one of your gems on one of the Carved rocks to see if it fits. If it doesn't, nothing interesting will happen. Try another gem until you are able to place it on the Carved rock. Once you successfully place a gem onto the correct Carved rock, walking away from it will cause the gem to fade.

  32. Once you have placed all the gems in the correct rocks, you will fly into the middle of the cave. Lights from all of the seven gems will gather in front of you, forming into the Book of Binding. It will tell you about the Octogram spell and how to use Holy Water to defeat the demon.



  33. You now have the option to use Holy Water to defeat the demon. This is optional because several people have done it without Holy Water. This is because many people found other ways that were more effective than the Holy Water when killing the demon. If you do not wish to use Holy Water, skip the rest of this paragraph. If you decide to use Holy Water, you will need several Empty Vials. Using your Book of Binding in your inventory, turn to the last page of the book, select 'Activus' to enchant your vials. If you have five or more vials, it will ask you how many Vials you wish to enchant. Enchanting vials will drain 5 Prayer points and 4 Magic levels PER vial. After enchanting your vials, they should now be named Enchanted vials. Please note to make as many as you think you need for this one battle. Fighting the demon the first time will contaminate the Water Pool and you will no longer be able to obtain Holy Water until you fight the demon the second time. Use your Blessed Gold Bowl with Holy Water in it on your Enchanted Vials to fill them. The Blessed Gold Bowl with Holy Water will only fill 4 vials. If you wish to fill more, you have to refill your bowl at the Water Pool from earlier. When you battle the demon, you need to wield your Holy water and throw it at him.



  34. Once you leave the Kharazi jungle, your Blessed Gold Bowl of Holy Water will evaporate. Bank at Shilo Village again and prepare yourself for battle. You may wish to use your Silverlight here but it is said that a Dragon weapon works just as or more effectively than a Silverlight. Equip your armour and a Ring of Life. Have your Hatchet, Machete, Radimus' notes, Book of Binding, Bull Roarer, 1 or 2 Prayer Potions (4 doses), emergency teleport device, and food in your inventory. You may wish to bring your Super Strength, Super Defence and Super Attack potions with you to this battle.

  35. Head back into the Kharazi Jungle and obtain more Holy Water by using your Machete on the Tall Reeds by the Water Pool and then using the Hollow Reed on the pool of water. Go into Ungadulu's cave again. Please note that once you use the Book of Binding on Ungadulu, the demon will come out and drain your Prayer points down to zero. Drink your Prayer potion right away and turn on the Protection from Melee prayer aura. Use your Blessed Gold Bowl on the Fire Wall to douse the flames again and then use the Book of Binding on Ungadulu. The demon, Nezikchened (level-187), will appear and it will drain your Prayer points here. The demon uses melee to combat. Kill the demon and he will warn you that he has not died and he will return. Nezikchened will inflict some damage on you before he vanishes.



  36. Ungadulu is now no longer possessed. After winning this battle, speak to Ungadulu. He will reward you with three Yommi seeds. Then ask him how to leave the Fire Wall octagon and he will cast a spell that will protect you from the flames. Use your Yommi seeds on the Blessed Gold Bowl of Holy Water now to germinate them. It will turn from dark green to light green.



    Part Two: The Source of the Sacred Water

  37. Now head outside the cave and towards the Water Pool. Try an obtain some water. You will notice that the Water Pool has turned murky, and that you should ask Gujuo about it. Swing your Bull Roarer and talk to Gujuo. He will tell you to investigate the source of the water, but you will need a Bravery Potion to advance in the deepest caverns, as you may get too afraid to continue.



  38. Head back out of the Kharazi Jungle. If you only have level 44 Herblore, bring a Greenmans Ale. Head to the west coast of Karamja. South west of Tai Bwo Wannai village, you will find Marshy Jungle Vines near the shoreline. Search one and you should be able to pick up an unidentified herb. Now head north east of Shilo Village, along the northern coastline. You should reach a peninsula with Palm trees. Search the Palm tree for an Unidentified herb.



  39. Head back to Shilo Village bank and take out a Vial of water. If your herblore is level 44, drink your Greenmans Ale now. Identify both herbs and then use your Snake weed on your Vial of water. Then use the Ardigal on the Unfinished potion to create your Bravery potion.



  40. Now bank again. For this part you will need your Hatchet, Machete, Radimus' notes, approximately 5 Lockpicks, a Pickaxe, Bravery potion, 1 Rope, 1 Unpowered orb, 30 Air, Water, Earth, OR Fire runes, and 3 Cosmic rune. Wield your weapon, armour and Ring of Life. In this part, you will fight three dead warriors, level 106, level 100, and level 92, as well as the level 187 demon. Bring food and prayer potions. You may choose to bank a second time to refill on food and resources before the battle with the demon but you will be required to obtain another Unpowered orb, 30 Air, Water, Earth, OR Fire runes and 3 Cosmic runes.

  41. Head back into the Ungadulu's cave. Search the Bookcase and go into the second cave. Search the Ancient doors to picklock it. Mine the three large Boulders and then push the large Ancient gate. Head pass the Death Wings (level 83), and then follow the path to jump over the Jagged Wall. Go back through the Marked wall into the cave with 7 pools of water.

  42. Head north until you see large Ancient gates. Search the Ancient Gate by right clicking and read the riddle. Then search again and search further. You will notice that it hints you on how to open the gate. Then use Cast Orb on the Ancient Gate. The door will open and you will fly through it to the other side.



  43. You will now be in a room filled with boxes and a Winch. Smashing the boxes will give you items such as food, rope, and weapons, but you may cause an explosion or release low level monsters. Kill them, and they'll drop items. Drink your Bravery Potion before climbing down the rope. If you fall, you will be hit with heavy damage.




  44. Once you climb down, you will appear on a cliff with the rope and a blue hat beside you. Take the blue hat and Viyeldi, level 79, will appear. Speak to him and he will give you clues about how to pass this part.



  45. Now head north along the path. You will come across a rocky ledge. Click it and it will ask you if you wish to take this path. Say yes and climb over. If you slip and fall, you will be hit damage, but hold your grip and stay on the path. (On lower areas, you will simply fall to the ground and be hit damage.) Keep going and climb over five other ledges. If you have high agility, you may avoid the damage.

  46. On the ground, there will be several spirits. You will now need to attack San Tojalon (level-106), Irvig Senay (level-100), and Ranalph Devere (level-92). Kill only one of each. San Tojalon will be located near the cliff you have climbed down from. Irvig Senay will be in the middle, and Ranalph Devere is located near the magical door, south east of the cave. They use melee based attacks. Each will drop 3 different pieces of a Crystal: Hunk, Chunk, and Lump. Pick them up.



  47. After obtaining the three crystals, head to the most north east corner until you see a Furnace beside a pool of lava. Use all three crystals on the furnace. Doing so merges the three crystals together to form one crystal called the Heart crystal.



  48. A message will appear telling you to bring life to the dragon's eye.



  49. Now head back into the center of the cave until you see a mossy rock that is searchable. If you look on your mini-map, you will notice that the location of the mossy rock looks like an eye of a dragon.



  50. Search the mossy rock. And then use the Heart Crystal on the on the mossy rock.



  51. Head south from the mossy rock until you see a shimmering field. Place the heart into the Recess beside it. Go through the shimmering field and run pass the Lesser Demons until you see a pool of water with three rocks. Push the Boulder. A spirit named, Echned Zekin, level 187 will appear. He will give you a Dark dagger to kill Viyeldi to avenge the spirit.



  52. There are two options you can choose from here: Hard and Easy:

    • Hard
      Using this method increases the difficulty of the third part of the quest. Wield your Black dagger and head out of the shimmering field. Head up the cliff and take the Blue hat. Attack Viyeldi, level 79, and kill him. When you attack him, you will one-hit him to death with your Black dagger without him attacking back. Once you have killed him, your Dark dagger will begin to glow. Now go back down the cliff and through the shimmering field. You will now have to fight the demon. On his first attack he will cast magic on you and then use melee. Click to move the boulder again, and the spirit will again appear. He will tell you that his plan has been succesful and turns into a demon. Turn on Magic from Protection prayer. Use the Dark dagger on the Echned Zekin. He will use melee for the most part of the battle but occasionally the throws the black dagger at you, hitting you for a very high amount of damage. It is advisable that you keep your Protection from Magic prayer on if you are wearing melee armour.



    • Easy
      Leave through the shimmering field and head back all the way up to Ungadulu. Enter the Fire wall and speak to him. You will tell him about the Spirit you have met. He will tell you that spirits may trick you into doing things for them. You then tell him that he wants you to kill Vyeldi and he will ask for a personal possession of the Spirit. You give him the Dark dagger and then he will give you a spell named Holy Force. You are to cast this spell on the spirit to reveal his true form. Take this opportunity to restock on food and prayer potions. You will need another unpowered orb, 30 Elemental runes and 3 Cosmic runes to go through the gate again. Go back down pass the shimmering field and cast the Holy Force spell on the demon. His first attack will be magical and then he will use melee. Turn on Protection from Magic prayer. Use the Dark dagger on Echned Zekin. He will turn into a demon and cast black fire. After his first attack, switch to Protection from Melee and kill him. If you use a ranged attack: melee, range, or magic, and hide behind a rock he will continue to do magic attacks. Turn on Magic Protection prayer if you do.



  53. After killing the demon, stand north of the Boulder and push it south. If it says you cannot push it at that angle, move one spot and try pushing it again. The boulder will roll away. Click on the sparkling spot and look at the Sacred water.

    Part Three: The Yommi Tree and the Evil Totem Pole

  54. Head back to Shilo Village bank. You can now bank everything. For this part, you will need your Hatchet, Machete, Radimus' notes, Bull Roarer, Yommi seeds, Blessed Gold Bowl, and the Greenman's Ale (if your Herblore level is 44). You can also prepare yourself for the final battle with weapons, armour, food and potions. Now head back into the Kharazi Jungle. If you have not germinated your Yommi seeds earlier, you can germinate them by getting some more Holy water from the Water pool. Swing your Bull roarer and tell Gujuo that you have germinated your seeds. He will tell you to plant the seeds in fertile soil. Make sure you have some water in your Blessed Gold Bowl. Head to a spot where there is fertile soil.

  55. Drink your Greenman's Ale if your Herblore level is 44 and then use your Yommi seed on the Fertile soil. Watch your tree grow. When it sprouts into a young tree, use your Blessed Bowl with Holy water on the young tree. It will then become a fully grown tree. If your seeds die, you can go back to Ungadulu in the cave to get more. You will have to germinate them when you do.



  56. Now quickly use your Hatchet on the Yommi tree, three times to chop the tree down, to create the basic shape and carve it into a Totem pole. Now lift the Totem pole. You may have some problems doing so and lose strength points.



  57. Time for the final battle! Bring your weapon, armour, food, and potions. Head to one of the Evil Totem Poles scattered throughout the Jungle. Use your newly made Totem Pole on an old one and Nezikchened (level-187) will appear. If you did the second part of the quest the hard way, Nezikchened will summon the undead Warriors (San Tojalon, Irvig Senay, and Ranalph Devere) one at a time (levels 106, 100, and 92 respectively). Kill them, and Nezikchened will fight you, first draining your prayer to zero. Drink prayer potions and turn on Protect from Melee. Kill him one last time, and he will dissappear.



  58. You will replace the Totem pole automatically after winning the battle. Gujuo will automatically appear as well and tell you that he and his tribe were watching you. He will then give you a Gilded pole.



  59. Now teleport to Ardougne, or make your way to the Legends guild. Enter the gate and speak to Radimus Erkle. Give him the Gilded pole and Radimus' notes. He will then tell you to head inside the Legends guild and speak to him there.

  60. Open the large mithril doors and enter the Legends Guild (Doesn't that feel good?). Speak to Radimus Erkle again. He will reward you with recognition of your completion of the quest, as well as experience in four skills of your choice.
