Official Information

Starting Point: Roving Elves

To Start: Speak to Eluned

Difficulty: Hard (Master Level)

Length: Long

Members Only: Yes

Requirements: Level 60 Ranged, Level 50 Thieving

Must have completed Roving Elves Quest, Sheep Herder Quest, and Big Chompy Bird Hunting Quest

Items Needed: Restore Potion, 2 Silk, 1 Fur (brown), 1 Bucket of Water, Toad Crunchies, Magic Log, Soft Leather, Feather, Anti Poison (helpful but not needed for traveling through Elf Areas), Ogre Bellows (From the Big Chompy Bird Hunting Quest); 1 Yellow, 1 Red, 1 Green, and 1 Blue dyes (can be purchased in Lletya); some Coal
  1. To start the Quest talk to Eluned who is located in the Elven area. The spot is shown on this Map.

  2. Eluned gives you a Crystal, then takes you to Lletya. Eluned can recharge this Crystal for you when it runs out (recharge fee first time is 750 Gold Pieces for 3 Teleports). Talk to Arianwyn who is right next to where you come into Lletya. He tells you his problem.

  3. You can exit Lletya to the West and walk back to the Mountain Pass (the large Gate that is the "shortcut" to Tirannwn), or visit Lletya's Bank and get whatever Teleport means you'd like.

  4. Next go back to the Mountain Pass and kill a Level 11 Mourner (it has to be here; the ones in West Ardougne won't drop what you need). These are very dangerous because they bring your Hit Points to twenty and all of your Combat Skills (including Range and Mage) to twenty as well. Kill this and take its Clothes and the Note. Wear all the Clothes you can which leaves you with the Top, the Bottom and the Note in your Inventory.

  5. Take the Top to Tegid, the Druid in Taverley who washes Clothes in the Stream. Talk to him and he tells you about a Bar of Soap. Search the Basket of Clothes next to him and steal the Soap from it. Use the Soap on the Mourner's Top while you have a Bucket of Water in your Inventory.

  6. Take the Bottom of the Mourner's Clothes to the Clothes Shop in Lletya. Talk to Oronwen, the Shop Owner, and ask her to fix your Clothes. She asks you to bring her some Fur and two sheets of Silk. Bring these back to her and she repairs your Mourner's Robe Bottom.

NOTE: This has to be "Brown" Fur which you get from killing Bears or purchase from the Fur Traders in Ardougne or Varrock or Rellekka, not the Grey Wolf Fur you can steal.

  7. Put all the Mourner Clothes on. Now you need to infiltrate the Fortress of the Mourners. Go to West Ardougne to the most Northeast Building.

  8. Make sure you are only wearing Mourner Gear: you can't have any Arrows, Ring, Amulets etc. on or you won't be admitted. Just walk through the front Door and go down the Trapdoor in the West Room. Find the Head Mourner in the Southeast Basement Room and talk to him. He explains his Plague Scam and wants you to help. He hands you a Tarnished Key and Broken Device and tells you to talk to the Gnome Inventor in the next Room. He is being tortured. Use the Tarnished Key to open the Door.

  9. The Gnome tells you he has been craving Gnome Crunchies and he doesn't like being tickled. Select that option. Go get some toad Crunchies! Yum!

  10. You can make toad Crunchies by first putting Gianne Dough in a Crunchy Tray and baking it. Add two Toad's Legs and one Gnome Spice. Bake it again. Add one Equa Leaf. You can also just buy these from any Gnome Waiter in the Gnome Stronghold Restaurant upstairs in the Northwest corner.

  11. Now take a Feather, the Toad Crunchies, a Magic Log and a Soft Leather, go back to the Gnome being tortured. Use the Gnome Feather with him. Make sure you have the Gnome Crunchies in your Inventory when you do this. You have to use the Feather on him twice. He says he needs Soft Leather and a Magic Log to fix the Device. Release him and he fixes it.

  12. Now you have to find out what to use for Parcels. Go down to Rantz's Cave near where you start the Big Chompy Bird Hunting Quest. Get the Ogre Bellows out of the Chest. Head West to a small Pond and first use your Ogre Bellows with a Vial of Dye. Use the Colored Bellows with a Swamp Toad. Repeat this until you have four different colored Swamp Toads. (1 Blue, 1 Green, 1 Red, 1 Yellow)

  13. Now go to Ardougne and use one Toad with your fixed Device. Then wield the Device. I just had to post this....it looks like a Bazooka.

  14. This is where the different Sheep are:

  15. If you examine each Sheep it tells you "It has a slight ed [for example] tinge." Use that color of Toad with your Rocket Launcher and change your Combat Style to aim and fire. It looks like this:

  16. Use the Arrows to aim until the Sheep is in the Crosshairs and then press the Red Button to fire.

  17. After dyeing all of the Sheep, speak to the Head Mourner again, who tells you that you need to devise a way to Poison the People. He suggests to use something like the Mourners were Poisoned with a little while ago, by a Joker (*cough*you*cough*). Get a Rotten Apple which is West of the Mourner's big House.

  18. Now go talk to Elena (from Biohazard Quest), located in her House Northeast of the Pub. She instructs you how to refine the Toxin in the Apples.

  19. First, give her the Rotten Apple, and wait a few minutes while she runs tests. Then she will tell you to get a LOT of Rotten Apples, to mash them, then add a Solvent, to get all the Apple Chunks out of the Mixture, and to heat it over something other than a naked Flame.

  20. To get the Apples, go West of King Lathas' Training Grounds, to an Apple Orchard (located just Southeast of Entrance to Tree Gnome Stronghold). There is a pile of Rotten Apples, and a Barrel spawn. Pick up the Barrel and scoop up some Rotten Apples. Then use your Barrel with the Straining Machine at the Orchard. You will get a Barrel of Rotten Mush.

  21. The Solvent you need is Naphtha (from the Regicide Quest). To make it, pick up another Barrel, and head off to Isafdar. Go back to the Elvish Tracker, and go South to the Tar Pit. Scoop up a Barrel of Coal-Par, and then make your way to Rimmington. Grab some Coal and go to the Chemist's House in Rimmington, and use the Fractionalizing Still there. Use the Barrel of Coal-Tar on it, add Coal, and turn Valves until you distill the Barrel into Naphtha. Use the Barrel of Naphtha on the Barrel of Apple Mush, and use the Sieve Elena gave you to scoop out the Chunks. Then find a Range (NOT A FIRE), and heat the Mixture. You will get two Piles of refined Toxin.

  22. Go back to West Ardougne, and find the Church. In it are three Bags of Grain. Use a Pile of Refined Toxin on any of the Bags to Poison it. Now make your way far West, past the Graveyard. You will find another stock of three Bags of Grain. Again add the Refined Toxin.

  23. Go to the Mourner's Hideout, and speak to the Head Mourner to complete the Quest.

You have completed the Mourning's End Part 1!
    2 Quest Points
    25,000 Hitpoints Experience
    25,000 Thieving Experience

    Congratulations! Quest Complete!
