Special thanks To: Boblin543, bartoron, Guybrush, Pyro3000, Svstoned, cncfanatics, Bluesaber376, boa and TrendyHaz

Start Point: The Bedabin Camp, southwest of the Shantay Pass

To Start: Speak to the Archaeologist

Quest Length: Long

Minimum Requirements:
  • Level 10 Slayer
  • Level 50 Firemaking
  • Level 50 Magic
  • Level 53 Thieving
  • A high Agility Level will be a distinct advantage
  • Be able to defeat extremely tough Enemies above Level 150

You must also have completed the following Quests:

  • The Digsite Quest
  • The Tourist Trap
  • The Temple of Ikov
  • Priest In Peril
  • Waterfall Quest
  • Troll Stronghold
Members Only: Yes

Items Needed: Several Shantay Passes*, several Waterskins(4), Varrock Teleport Runes, Trollheim Teleport Runes, Ardougne Teleport Runes, Al Kharid Teleport (Amulet of Glory or Ring of Dueling), 650 Gold Pieces, 6 Steel Bars, 6 Molten Glass, 1 Charcoal, 1 Ash, 1 Blood Rune, 12 Magic Logs, 1 Bone (normal), 1 Silver Bar, 1 Garlic, 1 Pestle and Mortar, 1 Cake, 1 Spiked Boots**, 1 Spices, plenty of Lockpicks, a few Anti-Poison Potions (4 doses), 1 Tinderbox, 1 Facemask, 1 pair of Ice Gloves***, 1 Fire Staff, a few Death or Chaos Runes, Weapon, Armor, 25+ Prayer Potions (4 doses), a few Stat Restoration Potions (4 doses), and plenty of Food (Sharks recommended).

* - Talk to Shantay and buy a Pass from him instead of waiting for the Store to restock.

** - Go to Burthorpe, and talk to Duston, bringing your Climbing Boots and Iron Bar with you. Ask him to Spike your Boots. Duston is located in the Burthorpe Smithy.

*** - From the Hero's Quest, after killing the Ice Queen. The Ice Gloves are not required but it definitely helps.

Note: You must have at least Level 43 Prayer to do this Quest. The higher, the better. I can't see how you can do without it. Always bring emergency Teleport Runes when battling. It is also important that you have your Potions in 4 doses. It saves space so you have room for more Potions. To make your Potions into 4 doses, use one Potion on another.

Non-Player Character's: Archaeologist, Archaeologist Expert (Terry Balando), Bartender, Eblis, Troll Child, Ice Troll, Troll Mother, Troll Father, Malak, Ruantan, Monks of Entrana, High Priest, and Rasool.

Monsters: Ice Trolls (Level 120-124), Kamil (Level 154), Dessous (Level 139), Damis (Level 103 and 174), and Fareed (Level 163).

Important Notes:
  • This Quest is the hardest Quest, as stated by the Jagex Staff themselves. When I did this Quest, I was Level 88 Combat, 79 Magic, 69 Attack, 69 Defense, 69 Strength, 66 Prayer, and 67 Range, and I did not die.
You will need lots of Prayer Potions (25+ 4 doses), and Lobsters barely cut it for a source of Food. Also, if you don't have Protection from Melee Prayer, it would probably be impossible to finish the Quest. If you can, go in groups with People you trust, so they don't run off with your stuff if you were to die.

  • During the Quest you can be jumped at any time by a Level 97 assassin with a Dragon Dagger(p), you can kill him or simply run he plays no important role. This event will only happen once and even though it is random most People get him after they obtain the Blood Diamond.
Map:

The Archaeologists

  1. Go to the Shantay Pass, buy a Pass, bring a few Waterskins(4) and Varrock Teleport Runes, go through the Pass and head southwest to the Bedabin Camp.

  2. Talk to the Archaeologist in the Camp, and ask if he has any Quests for you. He will ask you to take some Etchings to the Digsite, east of Varrock.

  3. Teleport to Varrock, go to the Bank and bring something that will teleport you to Al Kharid (Amulet of Glory, Ring of Dueling, Lumbridge Teleport Runes, etc). Head through the east Gate, and make your way to the Digsite. Go to the Exam Centre, southeast part of the Digsite, and look for an Archaeologist Expert, there will be two of them. Talk to one of them about the Quest and he will reveal that he is Terry Balando.

  4. Give him the Etchings by talking to him. After you finished the conversation, talk to him again, and he will give you a Book. Read the Book and it will talk about some missing Fragments, four Diamond Crystals. Teleport to Al Kharid, and head to the Bank. Bring your Shantay pass, 650 Gold Pieces to buy Beer, Terry's Book, some Waterskins(4), and, in Note Form, bring 6 Steel Bars, 6 Molten Glass, 1 Charcoal, 1 Ash, 1 Blood Rune, 12 Magic Logs, and 1 Normal Bone. For the following part, do not wear any Items of the gods: Zamorak and Saradomin (god Armor, Prayer Book, Capes, etc.). The Bandits surrounding you in the Bandit Camp will attack you and it is a Multi-Combat Area.

The Scrying Glasses

  1. Head back to the Bedabin Camp and talk to the Archaeologist about the Book given to you by Terry. He will ask you to help him. Then head south of the Bedabin Camp to the Bandit Camp. Go to the Bar and buy a Beer for 650 Gold Pieces from the Bartender. The Beer you buy from him temporarily increases your Thieving Level by one Level. Keep this Beer for later on. Talk to him and ask him about the four Diamond Crystals. Then ask him about the Diamonds of Azzanadra, he will tell you to find someone else to talk to.

  2. Head east of the Bandit Camp to a Building where you will find Eblis. Talk to him as if you were really interested in learning about the history of his People. Then ask about the Diamond Crystals. He will tell you that there is a Diamond of Blood, Ice, Smoke, and Shadow. He will ask you for some certain Items to make the Scrying Glass. Use each Item that you have in Note Form on Eblis to give him the Items. Talk to him again and he will tell you that he has completed the Scrying Glasses.

  3. Then head southeast of the Bandit Camp to find some Mirrors. Talk to Eblis again. Click on each individual Mirror. The Mirrors will reveal six locations of the Crystals, two of which are false.

The Diamonds of Blood, Ice, Smoke, and Shadow

For all of the following parts, you will need a Weapon, Armor, Prayer Potions, Super Sets, Restore Potions, and Food. Emergency Teleport: Runes, Amulet of Glory, Rings, etc, are highly recommended. You can do the Diamond parts in any order you like.

Some People have encountered a random event. During any part of the Quest, while you are holding a Diamond or the Gilded Cross, a Level 95 Stranger may appear. He looks to be the Mysterious Old Man but he's wielding a Dragon Dagger (p) and wears a Mask. When he appears, he may shout out something like, 'You Diamond thief!' or 'Hand back our cross, thief!' Then he will Attack you and he does several Dragon Dagger Specials.

Diamond of Blood

  1. For this part you will need 1 Silver Bar, 1 Spices, and 1 Garlic. Head to Canifis, and enter the Bar. It will automatically zoom into a conversation between Roavar the Bartender and Malak the Vampire.

  2. Malak the Vampire will tell you to approach him. Ask about the Diamond. He will tell you the information about the Diamond if you do a Task for him. He will also tell you the Owner of the Diamond's name, Dessous. Ask where you can find Dessous and how to kill him. He wants you to kill Dessous so that he can own more Land. He will also tell you to take a Silver Bar to a Man living in the Sewers of Draynor.

  3. Use your Amulet of Glory and Teleport to Draynor.

  4. Holding your Silver Bar, head west of the Jail and you will find a Trap Door, or head to the Boulders beside the Diagonal House shown on the Map above. Open the Trap Door and head down the Ladder. If you went into Entrance 1, head east until you see a large Room. If you went into Entrance 2, head north until you reach a large Room. You will find a Man named 'Ruantan'. Give him the Silver Bar and he will make you the Silver Pot. Head back to up the way you came in. Take this opportunity to get Garlic found Upstairs in the Cupboards of a House shown on the Map. If you finished the Ghost Ahoy Quest, bring your Ectophial, otherwise bring Varrock Teleport Runes. Head to Entrana by talking to the Monks of Entrana on Docks of Port Sarim.

  5. Once you are at Entrana, head to the Church, north of the Docks, to find the High Priest. Talk to him and ask him to bless your Silver Pot. If you do not bless your Silver Pot, Dessous will regenerate his life during the Battle.

  6. Teleport to the Temple of the Ghost Ahoy Quest, or Varrock and head to Canifis again. Go into the Bar and talk to Malak. Ask how to get fresh Blood, and he will use your Blood for the Pot. Head to the Bank and grind your Garlic using the Pestle and Mortar on it. Use the Garlic Powder and your Spices on the Pot of Blood. Equip your Armor and Weapon. Bring 3-5 Prayer Potions, emergency Teleport Runes, your Pot of Blood, and the rest of your Inventory should be Food. I strongly suggest you Attack using either Range, Magic, or a Dragon Halberd. People also found it effective to use a Dragon Dagger on Dessous, if you decide to use face-to-face Melee. For armor, it is highly recommended that you use armor with a high melee-defence bonus, over armor with a high prayer bonus. Examples of this would be barrows, or armor as low as rune. Prayer Potions and Super Potions, and high-level food are also highly recommended for the fight, as well as your Pot of Blood.

Note: If you decide to use a Halberd, Dessous will often teleport to the other side of the fence and attack you with melee, regardless of which protection-prayer you're utilizing.

  7. Head to Dessous' Grave by going south from Canifis. Cross the Bridge clicking on the Option, 'climb tree.' Then slowly click your way along the Bridge. Right click the end and climb down. There are a lot of Ghosts here that can rot your Food. Go around the Pond of Water, and then east. You can take an alternate route to the Bridge if you have done the In Search of the Myreque Quest. Proceed to the Trap Door outside the Bar on the south Side. If not, proceed on the Path shown below. If you have trouble crossing the Bridge, just follow the Blue Path shown below.

  8. Once you reach his Grave, turn on Protection from Magic. Dessous' Special makes Bats fly by and hits double 5's on you 100% of the time if you don't turn on Protection from Magic. Using Protection from Magic blocks out one of the double hits his Special does, as shown below. He uses his Special for most of the Battle, which, in most Players' cases, inflicts the most damage done on the Player. He also does Melee but tends to miss. Do not turn on Protection from Range because Dessous will Teleport to you then.

  9. Use the Pot of Blood on the Vampire Tomb. Dessous, Level 139, will appear. You can kill him by using your Halberd, Range or Mage Dessous from behind the Fences. If at anytime you notice that Dessous' Special is doing more than 5 damage per hit on you, or that he is regenerating, your Silver Pot has not been blessed.

  10. Head back to Malak in Canifis. Tell him that you killed Dessous and he will give you the Blood Diamond.

    Blood Diamond:

Diamond of Ice

  1. For this Area you will need one Cake. I also recommend you bring Monk Robes, Farseers Helm, Fire Staff, Granite Shield, Death or Chaos Runes, Food, Stat Restore Potion, Prayer Potions, and emergency Teleport Runes. If you decide to Bank after you kill the Trolls, bring your Spiked Boots then, if not, bring them now. I found that using Fire Magic was easiest, but using Range and Fire Arrows also works well. Using anything with Fire to kill the Ice Trolls makes this part a lot easier. Teleport to Trollheim, or head there by Foot.

  2. Head to the Troll Child. Talk to him and give him the Cake.

  3. Then head past the Ice Gate. When you pass the Gate, there will be something doing one damage to you draining Energy and some Stats occasionally. That is just the effect of the Mountain. Talk to the Ice Troll standing at the Gate. He will tell you to be careful.

  4. Turn on Protection from Melee and kill five Ice Trolls. They too drain some of your Stats and Energy. Each time you kill one, chunks of Ice will fall off the Cave Entrance. For me, I found that using Fire Magic was easier and faster. Use Monk Robes, Farseers Helm, Fire Staff, Granite Shield and bring Death or Chaos Runes, Food, Stat Restore and Prayer Potions if you decide to use Magic. Do not use any other type of Magic, it must be Fire.

  5. After killing the five Ice Trolls, I suggest you head back to a Bank and get Melee Weapons and Armor out and refill your Inventory with Potions and Food. The Non-Player Character you need to kill now will drain your Stats of Magic, Range, and others, so it's better to use Melee here. However, if you do decide to use Magic, stick with Low-Level Fire Magic like Mind or Chaos Runes. Fire Magic is very effective on Kamil, as long as you keep your Magic Level high enough to use the Spell. If your Magic drains below the Level requirement to cast the Spell, you will begin hitting Kamil with the Staff itself instead of using Magic. Bring about three Stat Restoration Potions, and you should be fine. Stat Restoration Potions do not Restore Non-Combat Stats, however, and they exclude Prayer and Hit Points. Head back to the Ice Trolls, and go through the Cave Entrance as shown on the Map.

  6. When you pass the Entrance, the effects of the Mountain will still be present. Turn on Protection from Melee and save your Food for later. Head up the Mountain north, east, north, and west, passing all those Level 132 Ice Wolves. It will say that you feel an evil presence near so turn on Prayer Protection from Magic. A Non-Player Character named 'Kamil' (Level 154) will appear using Magic and Melee also draining your other Stats. He does a Special on you where you become a Block of Ice and it does five damage. The Special for your Weapon will also be drained. You cannot Teleport out of here using Runes since your Magic will be drained, but you can use your Amulet of Glory, kill him. I am Level 88, and I used 14 Sharks, 1 Restore Potion and 3 Prayer Potions. When he dies, he will drop a Super Restore Potion (4 doses) and 2 Chocolate Cakes.

  7. After killing Kamil, the only thing you have to worry about is the Mountain Effect. If you do not have enough Food, go back to the Bank. It is a long journey ahead. Continue west, and follow the Path to find an Ice ledge. Wear your Spiked Boots here.

  8. The Mountain effect will still be present, you can also slip and fall causing two damage. Follow the Icy Path until you come to an Ice Gate.

  9. Go through the Ice Gate and you fall down. Continue on this Path to find two Frozen Trolls. Smash the Ice Blocks. This may take a while. The Ice Blocks have ten Hit Points each. The Troll Mother and Father will say that the Troll Child had the Diamond all along. You will then automatically be Teleported back to the Troll Child. Talk to the Troll Child and you will receive the Ice Diamond.

    Ice Diamond:

Diamond of Smoke

  1. Go to Al Kharid, and equip your Weapons and Armor. This time wear a Facemask, purchased from Slayer Masters, Ice gloves, from the Hero's Quest, and bring a Tinder Box, Food, and Prayer Potions. You can also use Water Magic or Ice Arrows on Fareed. Head to the Dungeon, west of Pollnivneach you will find a Well.

  2. Climb down the Smokey Well, wearing your Facemask. There will be Fire Elementals, Dustdevils, Pyrefiends, and Fire Giants.

  3. Head to the most southeast Corner of the Dungeon and you will find an Unlit Torch.

  4. You must move quickly because there is a time limit, the Torches will go out one by one. Turn on 'run' and make sure you have 100% Energy. Light the Torch using your Tinderbox, then head northeast of the Dungeon to find another Unlit Torch. Light that one. Then head to the northwest Corner of a Dungeon to light yet another Torch. Lastly, go to the southwest Corner of the Dungeon and light the last Unlit Torch.

  5. Head to the center of the Dungeon, until you come upon a large Room. The Entrance of the large Room is on the west side, which is why you start on the east Corner first. There will be a Chest in the middle of the Room. Open the Chest, before any of your Torches go out, and you will find a Key. Head back to the east Torches and continue east to find a Gate. Turn on Protect from Melee and make sure you have your Ice Gloves on, even if you are using Range or Magic. Use the Key on the Gate, go through it, and Fareed, (Level 167) will appear.

  6. Make sure you have your Ice Gloves on. If you do not, Fareed's heat will make you drop your Weapon. He uses Melee and Fire Magic. Go through the Gate again and use Ice Arrows or Water Magic Spells on him, which are very effective. Upon defeating him the Smoke Diamond mysteriously appears in your Inventory.

    Smoke Diamond:

Diamond of Shadow

  1. Go to Ardougne and bring your Amulet of Glory or a Ring of Dueling. Head west of the Fishing Guild, and find Rasool by an Area with a Fence surrounding it. Talk to him asking about the Diamonds.

  2. Teleport to Al Kharid, bring a lot of Lock-Picks, Anti-Poison Potions, the Beer you purchased earlier in the Quest from the Bartender in the Bandit Camp, Ardougne Teleport Runes, and Food. If your Thieving Level is low, Level 60 or less, bring a few Gold Pieces and Food in Note form, instead of just Food. Go to the south Building of the Bandit Camp and you will find a Chest.

  3. Drink the Beer to temporarily increase your Thieving Level by one. Picklock the Chest once and your Character will automatically try to pick three Locks on the Chest. If you fail, your Lockpick will break and there is a chance you will be Poisoned. If you run out of Lockpicks, just Pick-Pocket one of the Bandits and you will get a Lockpick and Anti-Poison Potion (1) occasionally. You may wish to buy more Beer from the Bartender if your Thieving Level decreases back to its normal Level. If you run out of Food, go to the General Store, sell your Food in Note form, and then buy it back again. Once you open the Chest, Teleport to Ardougne.

  4. Equip your Armor, and Weapon. Bring four pieces of Food, emergency Teleport, and a lot Prayer Potions. It is also important that you have your Prayer Potions in four doses. It saves space so you have room for more Potions. To make your Potions into four doses, just 'use' one Potion on another. Also, if your Magic Level is 79 or above, you may also want to bring Runes that cast Entangle: 5 Earth Runes, 5 Water Runes, and 4 Nature Runes per Spell cast. This holds your Opponent for fifteen seconds which will be very useful. On the image below is a place where you can Range, use Magic, or a Halberd.

  5. Head back to Rasool, west of the Fishing Guild, and give him the Gilded Cross by talking to him. He will give you the Ring of Visibility. Wear the Ring and a Trap Door will appear within the Fenced Area, southeast of Rasool. Open the Trap Door and enter Damis' Lair.

  6. In the Lair, there will be Level 80 Giant Skeletons, 63 Shadow Hounds, and Giant Rats.

  7. Once you're inside, you can take off your Ring of Visibility and wear a Ring of life. Follow the Map above until you see a large Room and turn on Protection from Melee. Damis will appear as you go further into the Room. Damis' first form is Level 103 and does not use Special Attacks in this form. However, it is a Multi-Combat Area, so the other Monsters can attack you. Run to the northwest Area to the Torch and an inactive Skeleton. Standing behind the Torch and you can Range, use Magic, or a Halberd on Damis:

Another way is to position a Giant Rat between you and Damis:

  8. Once you've killed him, he will change into a Level 174. If he hits you, your Prayer will begin to drain quickly, but not all at once. If you have decided to fight Damis, face to face, and you are low on Prayer Potions, I suggest you run back to the Bank and get more. You can cast Entangle on him and he will stay in one spot for fifteen seconds. Drink your Prayer Potions and continue to attack him. Keep track of your Prayer and make sure you still have Prayer points available. If you run out of Prayer Points you will enjoy the full impact of his hits. Once you've killed him, he will drop the Shadow Diamond. Pick it up.

    Shadow Diamond:

The Pyramid

  1. Once you have all your Diamonds, head to Al Kharid. Bring your Diamonds of Ice, Shadow, Smoke, and Blood.

Also, bring Armor, Weapons, Food, Prayer Potions, and Anti-Poison Potions.

  2. Head back to the Bandit Camp and talk to Eblis. Tell him you have retrieved all four Diamonds and he will tell you about a Pyramid. Head south past the circle of Mirrors to find a Pyramid with four Obelisks around it.

  3. Use the correct Diamond on each of the Obelisks, (The Obelisk will be the same color as the Diamond). Once you've inserted all of the four Diamonds, the Door of the Pyramid will open. Head up the Stairs, pass the Doors, then climb down the Ladder. Turn on Protection from Melee to help with the Level 103 Mummies. Level 92 Scarabs will appear randomly. The Scarabs do three Poison damage. There are also random Pits that appear and you fall into them. You will appear back outside of the pyramid. Do not stand in one spot for too long, the Pits will appear under you. If you are having trouble getting through the Pyramid because of the Pits, try different things. For example, if you were not wearing any Armor, try wearing Rune and change your weight. Another example would be if you were running, and you kept falling in the Pits, try walking instead. Different methods work for different People. As you go down each Level, the Mazes will get larger and larger. There are four Floors.

    Floor 1:

Head east after you have climbed down the Ladder. Make your way around to the Ladder that is north of where you entered. Climb down the awkward looking Ladder.

    Floor 2:

Head east, then all the way south, then all the way west, then north to a small hallway. Head east to a Ladder and climb down it.

    Floor 3:

Head to the northwest Corner of this Floor, then head south, then to the middle of this Level, head east, then south, to the southeast Corner. Then head west to a large room with a Ladder. Climb down that Ladder.

    Floor 4:

A little bit complicated to explain, but from the Ladder that you just climbed down, head clockwise to a large room where you will find Azzanadra. Talk to him and he will thank you for releasing him.

So after 200 Sharks and 50 Prayer Potions later...Congratulations! Quest Complete!
Reward:

3 Quest Points, 20,000 Magic Experience, Ancient Magicks.

You have completed the Desert Treasure Quest!
3 Quest Points
20,000 Magic Experience
Ancient Magicks

In the same Room, there will be a Prayer Altar that you can recharge your Prayer with, and a Portal that will take you outside the Entrance of the Pyramid. You do not have to go through the Pyramid again if you want to switch your Magic Spells list. Read 'Switching Magic Spell Lists' below.
For more information about the Ancient Magicks, please read the Ancient Magicks Special Report.

Switching Magic Spell List

To switch your Magic Spells List, from Ancient Magicks to normal, you must go and Pray at the Altar where Azzanadra was. You do not have to go through the Pyramid again. Just head south to the backside of the Pyramid, and enter the Tunnel. You will appear in the Room with the Altar.

Ancient Staff:

To buy the Ancient Staff, talk to Eblis at the circle of Mirrors. The Staff costs 80,000 Gold Pieces. You cannot have more than one Staff at a time, even if you drop it to buy a second one. The Staff IS tradable with other Players, but it's useless if you haven't done the Quest because you don't have the Ancient Magicks list. So, do not get scammed into buying the Staff for more than 80,000 Gold Pieces. After you've purchased the Staff from Eblis for the first time, he will no longer sell it to you. Rumor has it that if you kill the Level 103 Mummies in the Pyramid, they will drop it.
