Cooking Skill Guide

By: Lord Thief

Edited By: Majik Pk and King Zonk

Coded By: VeNoM0619, King Zonk and Glodenox

Welcome to my Guide about the most important Skill of RuneScape; 'Cooking'. This Guide will cover every Food available and a small Guide on how to make them.

The Basics:

The reason that Cooking is such an important Skill is because a lot of other Skills require Food.
That very reason also makes Cooking a great Money making Skill.

All you need to begin Cooking are Uncooked Food and a Range (Stove) or a Fire.

Training Cooking:

On Tutorial Island you are shown how to start Cooking, however the first thing you should do when you get off the Island is the 'Cook's Assistant' Quest, since doing this Quest gives you 300 Cooking Experience which is three Cooking Level's.

Click this link to view the Cook's Assistant Quest Guide.

After you lend a helping hand to the Cook it's time to start Training your Combat for the other Quests.

A great place to start are Chicken's, which supply Raw Chicken. Train on these until you feel you're ready for Cows which drop Raw Beef. After all of this you should have a Cooking Level of ten to fifteen.

Now that you have a good starting Combat Level and some Cooking Levels, you should Fish and Cook Food until you're about Level Forty Cooking and Fishing.

At this Level you can Fish, Cook and sell Lobsters.

Items that are handy for Cooking:

Cooking Gauntlets:
These are Members Only and can be earned in the Family Crest Quest.
These handy Gloves give you a bonus when you Cook Lobsters, Bass, Swordfish and Sharks. The result is less burnt Fish and more hard earned Money!

Click this link to view the Family Crest Quest Guide.

Chef's Hat:

This Hat is required to enter the Cooking Guild when you reach Level 32 Cooking. These Hats can't be bought in Stores, they are only dropped by these Non-Player Characters:
  1. Goblin (Level two and five)
  2. Imp (Level two)

Cooking Guild:

Level 32 Cooking, and a Chef's Hat are required to enter the Cooking Guild. The Guild is not popular because there isn't a Bank nearby.

When you reach Level 35 Cooking you can make Wine. Everything you'll need is available inside the Guild including the only Free-To-Play Cooking Apple respawn.

Click this link to view the Cooking Guild Guide.

Food:

You have now acquired the basic knowledge for Cooking, it's time to learn how to prepare the tasty treats:

Fish are the most popular Dish in RuneScape because they are easy to Cook and offer significant Healing properties.
There are no complicated Recipes or need of any Special Items, all you need is the Fish and a Fire or Range.

Flour and Baking Food:

Foods that you have to Bake are most unpopular since they take more time to make, and unlike Fish these Items take a few clicks to eat.

Clicks Needed:
  • Pie: Two clicks are necessary to eat an entire Pie. A Pie heals ten Hit Points, which are divided equally among the amount of bites, (i.e. two bites five Hit Points each).

  • Pizza: Similar to Pie with two bites at five Hit Points each.

  • Cake: Requires three bites to finish and is quite common due to Thieves ability to acquire them at the Baker's Stall in Ardougne.
Obtaining Flour:

Every Item that you bake needs Flour. Here is list of what you will need:

  1. Grain: Found in Grain Fields

  2. Clay Pot: Bought at a General Store or Crafted
Windmills are used to grind Wheat into Flour. Below are directions to find the four Windmills scattered throughout RuneScape:
  1. The first Windmill is along the Path running between Lumbridge and Draynor Village.

  2. One is located inside the Cooking Guild.

  3. Another resides in Zanaris and is Members Only.

  4. The last is found north of Ardougne and is also Members Only.
To make Flour, go to the Third (Top) Floor, put Grain in the Hopper and pull the Lever.
Walk all the way down and collect the Flour in a Pot.

For those too lazy to make your own Flour, it can be purchased at Port Sarim's Food Shop.

For Members, there is a Barrel in the Sinclair Mansion north of Seers' Village which has an endless supply of Flour.

Making and Baking the Food:

Bread:

To make Bread all you need is Flour, and a Jug of Water.
  1. Use the Water on the Flour to make 'Bread Dough'

  2. Cook the Dough using a Range
Pies:

Making Pies is simple. You will need these Items:
Pie Dish (found in the Cooking Guild or you can craft it), Flour, a Jug of Water, and a 3rd Ingredient.

The 3rd Ingredient can be: Red Berries (found south of Varrock), Meat (kill Giant Rats, Cows or Bears), or a Cooking Apple which is only found in the Cooking Guild.
  1. Use the Water on the Flour and make 'Pastry Dough' then add it to the Pie Dish.

  2. Now add the 3rd Ingredient and bake the Pie.
Member Pies:

Members can make more advance pies which require more ingredients.
These Recipies can all be found in the Pie Recipe Book.
This Book is sold at the Cooking guild for 5 Gold Coins.

Pizzas:

Making Pizzas is tricky since you need several Items:

Jug of water, Flour, Tomato and Cheese. If your Cooking Level is high enough, you can add another Ingredient. You can choose from: Meat, Anchovies, or Sliced Pineapples.
  1. Use the Jug of Water with the Flour and make a 'Pizza Base'.

  2. Next add a Tomato and a piece of Cheese.

  3. Now bake the Pizza.

  4. Add the Ingredient of the Pizza you want. (Note: These should also be Cooked prior to adding to your Pizza)

  5. To slice a Pineapple, cut it with a Knife.
Cakes:

To make Cakes you need the following Items:
Flour, Egg (found in Chicken Pens), and Milk (to get Milk use a Bucket with a Cow). and a Cake Tin (found in the Cooking Guild).
  1. Use one of the Ingredients on the Cake Tin and it will fill it up with the rest of the Items automatically.

  2. Bake the Cake.

  3. For Chocolate Cake add a Chocolate Bar to the baked Cake.
Here is a list of all Flour and baked Foods:
