Crafting is divided into eight main Categories: Pottery, Armour, Silver Crafting, Gems and Gold, Glass Blowing, Battlestaffs, Weaving and Spinning. Pottery Pottery is mainly used by new Players to get quick Crafting Experience. The following Items can be made from Pottery Crafting:
Get a Jug or Bucket and a Pickaxe. Click on the Pickaxe to wield it thus providing the maximum spaces in your Inventory. To start making Pottery, you first need Clay and the best place for that is in the Mines south of Falador. Mine as much Clay as possible filling your Inventory completely. Proceed to Falador and go to the Fountain near the west Bank. Use your Jug or Bucket with the Fountain and then with the Clay to make Wet Clay. Go north and east to the Barbarian Village. In the far southeastern House there is a Pottery Wheel and a Furnace. Use the Wet Clay with the Pottery Wheel and then Fire each Soft Piece of Pottery in the Furnace. When you attain Level 40 Crafting you are allowed to enter the Crafting Guild which contains everything needed for making Pottery. To enter or exit you have to be wearing a Brown Apron. However, this is not recommended, as a Potter does not provide the most efficient Experience gains in Crafting at Level 40. *Note: To make Pot Lid's you must have started the One Small Favor Quest. Armour Crafting Armour is one of the best ways to get Crafting Experience. With the new Dragon Leather; crafting Armour is now both a beginning and very advanced portion of Crafting. The following can be made using various resources:
Regular Leather Crafting provides excellent Experience for lower Levels and Dragon Leather Crafting provides similar Experience needed for higher Levels. To make Leather Items you first need Hides. Kill Cows near Falador, Al Kharid, or the Crafting Guild for regular Cowhides. Take them to a Tanner, either the one in Al Kharid or the Crafting Guild, to tan the Hides into Leather. It will cost you one Gold Piece each for the Tanner to make regular Leather and three Gold Pieces to make Hard Leather. At higher Levels you can kill Dragons for their Hide, or buy the Hides as many high Level Crafters do. These can be made into Dragon Leather by either of the regular Tanners or the Tanner in the Ranging Guild. This Guild requires Level 40 Range to enter. Once you have your Leather, you will need a Needle and some Thread, one Thread per Item you want to make. You can buy Needles and Thread in Crafting Stores located in Al Kharid and Rimmington. Use the Needle with any Leather to make Leather Items. Silver Crafting Many Players use Silver Crafting as a fast way to get Experience and you can begin at very low Levels. The following can be made with Silver Crafting:
50 Experience per Item at only Level 16 is amazingly efficient Training. It well outdoes all normal Leather Crafting, Pottery and all other forms of low Level Crafting. The disadvantage to Silver is that it is expensive and hard to Mine at the Lower-Levels. To make Silver Items you will need large quantities of Silver Ore or Bars and a Mould for whichever Item you choose to make, Sickle Mould for a Sickle, Holy Symbol Mould for Holy Symbols and Unholy Symbol Mould for Unholy Symbols. This means that you will need to mine or buy your Equipment. Silver Ore normally sells for 300 Gold Pieces while Bars sell for 400 Gold Pieces or more. You can mine Silver in The Crafting Guild, Scorpion Pit (north of Al Kharid) and the Dwarf Mine in Falador. Silver requires Level 20 Mining, and can be very slow. After you acquire Silver you will need to get a Mould. Holy Symbol Moulds can be bought in the Falador General Store or any Crafting Shop, and are the easiest to get. Sickle Moulds are a part of the Nature's Spirit Quest. Unholy Symbol Moulds are given to you by The Spirit of Scorpius after you complete Observatory Quest. The Spirit is located in the Graveyard to the north of the Observatory. With your Equipment you can now make your Items. This is simple, just use Silver Bars with a Furnace while a Mould is in your Inventory and you will receive the Option to make an Item. To make Silver Bars from Ore, use the Ore with a Furnace. Gems and Gold Gems are used with Gold to make Jewelry. You can obtain Gems by Mining, Thieving or purchasing from another Player. You will receive Gems randomly when mining most types of Ore. Wearing "charged" Amulets of Glory increases the chance that you will receive a Gem while mining. There are also Gem Rocks in Shilo Village that always give you a Gem when mined. The last way to get Gems is by thieving them from the Gem Stall in Ardougne. You will receive some Crafting Experience from cutting Gems.
Gold is then needed to make the Jewelry that Gems are part of. You can also make purely Gold Jewelry. Lower-Level Gold Crafting isn't terribly efficient as Gold is harder to Mine than Silver, and provides less Experience. Gold is much more useful for making Amulets and Rings. Once you make a Ring or Amulet with a Gem in it, you will need to Enchant it using Magic.
Making Gold Jewelry is the exact same as making Silver Items. Simply use a Gold Bar with a Furnace while a Mould is in your Inventory. Ring, Necklace and Amulet Moulds can be purchased in the Crafting Shops located in Al Kharid or Rimmington. Glassblowing Glassblowing is Member's Only and a very small part of Crafting. It lets you make Vials for Herblore, Lanterns and the Orbs for Battlestaffs.
To make Glass Items you will need to use a Glassblowing Pipe with Molten Glass. To create Molten Glass use a Bucket of Sand with a Cooking Range. You can fill Buckets with Sand on Entrana Island where there is also a Range and Glassblowing Pipe respawn. Battlestaffs Battlestaffs have the same Magical properties of regular Staffs, but are a lot more powerful physically. The making of Battlestaffs is Member's Only. To make a Battlestaff of an Elemental, Rune or another you will need to attach a Charged Orb to your Battlestaff. These Orbs are made with Glassblowing and Charged at the different Elemental Obelisks. The Water and Fire Obelisks are at the end of Taverley Dungeon while the Earth and Air Obelisks are at the end of Edgeville Dungeon.
Spinning Spinning is also part of Crafting. It only offers a very small amount of Experience, but when used repeatedly racks up Experience rather quickly. You can only spin three things: Wool, Bowstrings and Magical Bowstrings. To Spin Wool you will need to Shear Sheep to get their Fur. Then use the Fur with a Spinning Wheel making it into a Ball of String. To make Bowstrings pick Flax and use it with a Spinning Wheel. You can find Flax south of Seers' Village and around The Gnome Stronghold, to spin Magical Bowstrings use Magic Roots with the Spinning Wheel.
Weaving Members can also master the art of Weaving. In order to weave you will need to find a Loom in various places.
Miscellaneous You also gain a little bit of Experience for coloring Capes. This is done using Dye, which you can get from Aggie in Draynor Village. Members can also gain a little Experience when cutting Limestone.
