Herblore is one of the most useful Skills in Runescape. Herbalists have the ability to make Potions which can be used for a huge variety of Options. From Attack Potions to Zamorak Potions, Fishing Potions to Anti-fire Potions! + + + =![]() The reason why Herblore requires patience is because collecting the Herbs and Ingredients is a very time consuming task. Besides the Herbs and Ingredients there are a few other needed or useful items for Herblore, these are: A Vial: Bought from various Herblore Shops around RuneScape. The base item for every Potion. Pestle and Mortar: Bought from various Herblore Shops around RuneScape. Used to grind several items to be able to add them to your Potions. Greenman's Ale: Bought from the Pub in Yanille, or brewed using the Cooking Skill.Raises your Herblore Level by +1 temporarily, which is handy when you reach the high Level Potions. Now, to start with Herblore… of course, you require Herbs. The best way to get Herbs is by defeating Monsters and acquiring Herbs as Loot. You can also buy them from other Players, grow them yourself using the Farming Skill. Or obtain them from a special Chest which is explained further on in this Guide. Which Monsters drop Herbs? Almost all Monsters drop Herbs, from Men up to King Black Dragons. The most common sources of Herbs, however, are the Chaos Druids, Druids and Chaos Druid Warriors. Locations: Chaos Druids: Located in the Taverley Members Dungeon, the Blood Rune Tower north of Ardougne, Edgeville Dungeon and the Yanille Agility Dungeon. Druids: Located throughout Taverley and at the Stone Circle between Taverley and The Heroes Guild. Chaos Druid Warriors: Located in the Yanille Agility Dungeon. The Sinister Chest: The Sinister Chest is located in the Yanille Agility Dungeon. To open it you require a Sinister Key. This Key is dropped by Salarian The Twisted who resides in the Level 67 Agility Section of the Dungeon. You must defeat him using Strike Spells and sometimes he will drop the Sinister Key. When you open the Chest you will be Poisoned, so remember to bring Anti-Poison! You receive a variety of Herbs ranging from Harralander to Torstol. Torstol, Toad Flax and Snapdragon These Herbs aren't dropped by Monsters, however they can be farmed. Torstol can be collected in the Sinister Chest mentioned above, Toadflax and Snapdragon can be collected in an Agility Mini-Game. More information about that Game can be found at our Agility Arena Guide. Below is a list of Herbs, their Level, Experience and Farming Level's.
Besides these Herbs there are also five Quest related Herbs that can be collected and identified. However, to be able to collect them you must have done the Jungle Potion Quest. After that they are used in various Quests such as: Legends and Zogre Flesh Eaters.
Besides basic starting Ingredients Potions require a second Ingredient. These items are found all over Runescape and some are grown by Farming or dropped by Non-Player Character's. However, some items must first be ground/crushed using a Pestle and Mortar, if an item requires grinding it will be stated in the table below:
Now we are finally ready to discuss the actual Potions. Potions are always three dose when you make them, except for the Weapon Poisons Potions which only have 1 dose. However, a Vial can contain four doses, to create a four dose Potion simply use two of the same type of Potions on each other. Here is an example of mixing two Potions which each have two doses: + =![]() It does not matter how many doses they contain, you can mix any amount of doses together up to a maximum of four dose per Vial. There are two types of Potions, Water based and Coconut Milk based Potions. Both of these will be displayed in separate tables below. Each table will contain the following information: Ingredients, Experience gained, the Level needed and the effects. ![]() Filling a Vial with Water is easy, just use it with a Sink or Fountain and your ready to go!
![]()
Coconut Milk based Potions are mainly aimed at Farming. This means that almost all of the Ingredients needed in these Potions can only be obtained by Farming. Luckily these items are tradable incase your Farming Level is not high enough.
There are some Potions you can only make after a Quest, but still give you Experience when making. This table does not include Potions you cannot make after the Quest, or the bravery Potion from the Legends Quest since making it does not give you any Experience.
Making the Blamish Oil Potion is easy during the Heroes Quest, since they supply you with the 'Blamish Oil' Ingredient. However, after the Quest it is up to you to make it. Making Blamish Oil yourself requires you to have done the Priest In Peril Quest and have started the Nature Spirit Quest. Now to actually make it you will need three items, a Sample Bottle (bought in Canifis General Shop), a Raw Snail (kill any Snail in Mort Myre Swamp) and your trusty Pestle and Mortar. + = ![]() After the One Small Favour Quest you can create the Guthix Rest Tea, it may not be a Potion or Brew but it does in-fact give Experience. Making it requires four Herbs, which compared to the Experience is not worth it. To make it you will require: An Empty Cup, A Bowl of Water, 1 Harralander, 2 Guam Leafs and 1 Marrentill. 1. Boil your Bowl of Water using a Range. 2. Pour the Water into your Cup. 3. Add 1 Harralander, 2 Guam Leaf's and 1 Marrentill. 4. Your Guthix Rest is now ready. Experience Gained: 59 Herblore Experience. Effects: Heals some Health, when you are at full Health it will temporarily raise your Hitpoints by 5. That's all you need to know about Herblore, now start making your very own Brews! |
