Butterfly Jar - Level 15 - Stores Butterflies
Rabbit Snare - Level 27 - Catches Rabbits

Several of the Hunter methods use Bait. At the moment, hunter methods work fine without Bait, though Bait increases your chances of succeeding slightly. Deadfall Bait Raw Meat (Wild Kebbit, Sabretooth Kebbit) - Any kind of Raw Meat can be used, so you can pick some up from other Hunters in the area. You can not lose your Raw Meat while using it as bait, so you'll only need a few.
Rainbow Fish (Barbtailed Kebbit) - To get Rainbow Fish, use Stripy Feathers as your Feathers when you lure Fish in the Barbarian Village or the Seers' Village Lake. Stripy Feathers can be obtained by hunting Tropical Wagtails or by buying them from the Fancy-dress Store in southeastern Varrock. You will lose your Rainbow Fish when the Trap is activated, so it is best not to use them.
Barley (Prickly Kebbit) - The only way to get Barley is to grow it in a Hops Patch or to buy it from other players. Because you lose your Barley when a Kebbit triggers your trap, it's best to do without it.
Net Trapping Bait Lizards and Salamanders each prefer a different type of Herb Tar. Guam Tar (Swamp Lizard)
Marrentill Tar (Orange Salamander)
Tarromin Tar (Red Salamander)
Harralander Tar (Black Salamander)
Herb Tar can be made by collecting Swamp Tar from the swamps of Lumbridge and using them with the proper Herb while you're holding a Pestle and Mortar. When collecting Swamp Tar, it's best to bring Energy Potions so that you can keep running. Here's a map showing the best way to collect it.
Since Herb Tar takes so long to collect and make, you shouldn't use Bait for Net Trapping. Box Trapping Bait Spicy Chopped Tomato (Chinchompa) - This can be made by using a Tomato with a Bowl while holding a Knife. After that, use a Spice on it. All of the ingredients for this can be found in the Culinaromancer's Chest. Since you lose your Spicy Tomato whenever your Box Trap is triggered by your prey, it's best to do without it.
Spicy Minced Meat (Red Chinchompa) - This is made the same way as a Spicy Tomato, but you'll use Meat instead of a Tomato. Once again, it is advisable not to use this Bait.
Imp Trapping Bait
Beads (Imp) - These are sometimes dropped by Imps. The best place to find Imps is along the rim of the Karamja Volcano. Beads are mandatory for Imp Trapping.
When worn in its matching environment, Camo-Gear increases you chances of succeeding with "place and wait" Traps, such as Bird Snares, Deadfalls, Box Traps and Net Traps. Some Camo-Gear has a Hunter Level requirement to wear.
Fur/Hides from Pitfall creatures can be taken to the Fancy-dress Shop owner to make Pitfall Gear. Hats require one normal Fur/Hide while Tops and Pants can be made from either normal or Tatty Fur and Hides. When worn in their matching environments, Pitfall gear acts like Camo-Gear but works much better.
Falconry Gear Fur from Falconry creatures can be brought to the Fancy-dress Shop to make Falconry Gear.

Hunter Methods TrapsMultiple Bird Snares, Box Traps, Rabbit Snares, Net Traps and Pitfall Traps can be set at the same time depending upon your Level. Note: It is always recommended that you wear the appropriate Hunter Clothing while training.
Bird Snare What you need: Bird Snares, Torch and a Tinderbox (optional) Level: 1+
This is the most basic form of hunting. To catch Birds, set up your Bird Snare in an area where your prey is flying around. Wait for one to land on your Bird Snare and hopefully it will be caught. The Bird may escape and disarm the Trap, which will cause the Snare to fall over. If this happens, just pick up the Snare and set it up again. Hunter Clothing increases your chances of catching something, so make sure you wear some that matches the environment you're in. At Level 39, you may use Torches with your Snare to conceal your scent and increase your chances of catching a Bird. This method is most effective when you are able to set up more than one Trap. Birds and their rewards
Tracking What you need: A Noose Wand Level: 1+
Tracking is the second basic form of hunting and involves tracking creatures from their burrows to their hiding places and capturing them. Tracking is slightly different in each environment, but the basic way to do it is the same. Start by inspecting a Hole or Burrow. Then, follow the Tracks and search objects such as Logs, Tunnels, Rocks or Plants near it to uncover more Tracks. Then when the Tracks lead to a hiding place like a Snowdrift, a Bush or a Pile of Sand, attack it to catch the creature. The creature may not be in the first hiding place the Tracks lead to and it may escape as well. Tracking Creatures and their rewards
Butterfly Netting: What you need: A Butterfly Net, Butterfly Jars Level: 15+ Butterfly netting is a form of hunting that requires more hunting skill than basic Bird snaring and tracking. Butterflies are not easy targets. To catch Butterflies, click on them while wielding a Butterfly Net and with an empty Butterfly Jar in your Inventory. If someone else is not already chasing it, you will follow it until it is caught. Butterflies
Butterfly Netting Rewards Butterflies caught in Jars can be used on other players who have Accept Aid on in multi-combat zones to give them different bonuses. You cannot use these on yourself or outside multi-combat zones. You can also release Butterflies from your Jars make space for others.
Deadfall What you need: A Knife, a Hatchet (to cut Logs), a Torch and Tinderbox (optional), Bait (optional) Level: 23+ ![]() Deadfall hunting uses a Boulder propped up by a Log and sometimes Bait to catch creatures. Lay this Trap by using the "Set Trap" option on a Boulder while you have a Knife and Logs. After your Trap is set, it is best to walk as far away as possible so that you do not repel the Kebbits. The Kebbits may set off the Trap but jump out of the way, which will cause the Trap to collapse. The Trap may also collapse by itself if it is left alone too long. In either case, you will have to reset the Trap with some more Logs. While you are waiting for Kebbits to be caught in your Trap, it's best to cut down some nearby Trees for more Logs. You may also use the Bait your prey prefers on your Trap, but it will still work fine without it. Any kind of Raw Meat will work for Wild Kebbits and Sabretooth Kebbits. Because you can never lose this Bait, you will only need one or two. On the other hand, Rainbow Trout and Barley will be lost whenever a Kebbit sets off the Trap, even if it isn't caught. Deadfall Traps may be smoked with a Torch to hide your scent at Level 39. You can only set up one Deadfall Trap at one time.
Deadfall Rewards Each Deadfall creature drops Bones and a unique Item.
Rabbit Snaring What you need: Rabbit Snares, Ferrets, a Torch and Tinderbox (optional) Level: 27+ You must have completed the Eagles' Peak Quest catch Rabbits. The Rabbit snaring method uses a Ferret to flush Rabbits out of a Hole, straight into your Snares. When you use a Ferret with a Hole, a Rabbit will run out of a Hole on either side of the one you flushed. Place a Rabbit Snare right in front of the Hole to the right and left of the one you're flushing. Just keep flushing until one is caught. Ferrets may run away after flushing holes, so be sure to bring several. Rabbit Snares may be smoked with a Torch to hide your scent at Level 39. Rabbit Snaring Creatures
Rabbit Snaring Rewards Rabbits drop Bones, Raw Rabbit Meat and a Rabbit Foot. Rabbit Feet may be used with a Ball of Wool to make a Rabbit-foot Necklace which increases your chances of getting a Bird's Nest while woodcutting.
Box Trapping What you need: Box Traps, a Torch and Tinderbox (optional), Bait (optional) Level: 27+
The Box Trapping method uses a Box Trap to capture creatures alive. To use a Box Trap, lay the Trap in an area where you can find your prey. Once the Trap is set, it's best to walk away from the Trap so that you don't repel the creatures. You may use Bait if you want, but it isn't necessary and not recommended. Box Trap creatures may trigger the Trap without getting caught, and the Trap may collapse after a while. Any time a Trap is triggered by your prey, the Bait is lost whether they are caught or not. Smoking your Traps with a Torch and setting multiple Traps is recommended. Ferrets may only be caught after completing the Eagles' Peak Quest. Box Trapping Creatures
Box Trapping Rewards Each Box Trapping creature is caught alive. Chinchompas and Red Chinchompas are stackable and can be used as a weapon. They can then be thrown at enemies and explode, damaging all enemies within one square of the explosion in a multi-combat zone. The Attack Style can be changed to short, medium and long fuse lengths, depending on how far away your opponent is.
Net Trapping What you need:Small Fishing Nets, Ropes, a Torch and Tinderbox (optional), Bait (optional) Level: 29+
Net Trapping uses a Rope, a Small Fishing Net, a Young Tree, and sometimes Bait to make a Net Trap to catch Lizards and Salamanders. To make a Net Trap, choose the "Set-Trap" option on a Young Tree. After your Trap is set, it is best to walk as far away from it as possible so that you do not repel the Salamanders. Herb Tar may be used as Bait, but this is not necessary. Lizards and Salamanders may set off the Trap and not get caughtm and the Trap may collapse after a while. Any time a Trap is set off by a Lizard or Salamander, the Bait is lost whether they are caught or not. Net Traps may be smoked with a Torch to hide your scent at Level 39. Set up more than one Trap if you can. Net Trapping Creatures Each Lizard or Salamander prefers a different sort of Herb Tar as Bait.
Net Trapping Rewards Each Lizard or Salamander is caught alive and can be used as a Flamethrower. The ammo for each Lizard or Salamander is a different sort of Herb Tar. Your Attack Style may be set to "Scorch" to train Strength, "Flare" to train Ranged and "Blaze" to train Magic.
Pitfall Trapping What you need: A Hatchet, a Knife, a Teasing Stick, Food, Armor (Recommended) Level: 31+ The point of Pitfall Trapping is to get the Hide of largem exotic creatures without causing excessive damage to it. This is accomplished by luring your prey into falling into concealed spiked pits. To make a Pitfall Trap, click on a Pit while you have a Knife and some Logs. You must have at least two Spiked Pits to do this right. Once your Pits are set, use the "Tease" option on one of the creatures that has not been taken and it will begin to attack and follow you. Lead it to the edge of one of your Pits and jump over it. Your prey will either jump and be safe or try to walk over and be trapped. If it jumps over, you will have to lead it over another pit. It cannot be lead over the same Pit twice in a row. Make sure you tease the Creature regularly. Otherwise, someone may steal it from you. Damage taken from the Pitfall creatures can add up, so be sure to bring decent Food and Armor. Pitfall Creatures Each pitfall creature gives Big Bones and one normal or Tatty Fur/Hide. Since they attack you, they also have different Combat Levels.
Pitfall Rewards Each Pitfall creature gives either a good or Tatty Fur/Hide which can be used to make Pitfall gear. Good Furs and Hides can make Hats, Tops and Pants, whereas Tatty Furs and Hides can only make Tops and Pants. Falconry What you need: 500 Gold Pieces, no Weapon or Glove Level: 43+
Falconry uses a Falcon to catch creatures that are too fast for you to catch with other Traps. It is also the fastest way to train Hunter. To start, go to the Falconry Area inside the Piscatoris Hunter Area and pay Matthias, the Falconer, 500 Gold Pieces to use one of his Falcons. Then, by clicking on the Kebbits in the area, you can send your Falcon swooping down on them, which will hopefully catch them. It's best to click on the Kebbits as soon as possible so it isn't taken by someone else's Falcon. If your Falcon catches the Kebbit, it will hover around and an arrow will appear above its head. You can then "retrieve" the Falcon and the Kebbit it caught. Avoid sending your Falcon after Kebbits that are far away, since people closer might take it or the Kebbit could move before the Falcon gets there. Always move closer to the Kebbit before clicking on it. Falconry Creatures
Falconry Rewards Each Kebbit drops Bones and a different type of Fur which can be used to create several type of Items. The items and their prices are listed in the Gear section. Imp Catching What you need: Magical Imp Boxes, Beads Level: 71+
Imp Trapping involves using a Magical Box Trap to capture Imps. The best place to do this is the western side of the Karamja Volcano, as there are two Imp repawns. Set your Traps near the Imp respawns and kill the Imps if they wander too far away. You do this so they will reappear next to your Traps. Imp trapping will not work if you don't use Beads as Bait.
Imp Trapping Rewards
Hunters' Crossbow Leon in the Yanille Hunter Shop will sell you a Hunters' Crossbow for 1,300 Gold Pieces. The Crossbow requires Level 50 Ranged to wield and gives a Ranged bonus of +55. It fires faster than a normal Crossbow but can only hold Spike Bolts. Leon will give you six Kebbit Bolts for a Kebbit spike and twenty Gold Pieces. He'll also make six Long Kebbit Bolts for you for a Long Spike and forty Gold Pieces. You may also fletch them yourself by using a Chisel on a Kebbit Spike or Long Spike.
Level 1-9: Polar Kebbits (Tracking)
Polar Kebbits have the shortest trails of all the tracking creatures and make for very fast catches. Crimson Swifts, on the other hand, give a little more Experience but may not be caught reliably. You will often have to wait a while and the Bird Snares may miss. Although Golden Warblers have give eighteen more Experience per catch, they have the same unreliability as the Crimson Swifts and will either give the same or less Experience as catching Polar Kebbits. You must catch thirty-three Polar Kebbits to get to Level 9. Level 9-11: Copper Longtails (Bird Snare)
Though Copper Longtails have the same unreliability as Crimson Swifts and Golden Warblers, they give twice as much experience as Polar Kebbits and give faster experience than following the long trails of Common Kebbits and Feldip Weasels. You will only need to catch seven Copper Longtails to reach Level 11. Level 11-19: Cerulean Twitches (Bird Snare)
Cerulean Twitches give slightly more Experience than Copper Longtails and have the same speed. Catching Butterflies at Level 15 is not recommended, as they are too spread out and do not give much Experience. You will need to catch forty-one Cerulean Twitches to get to Level 19. Level 19-29: Tropical Wagtails (Bird Snare)
Tropical Wagtails give thirty-one more Experience than Cerulean Twitches and have the same speed. At Level 20, you may set up two Snares at the same time. You will need to catch eighty-five Tropical Wagtails to reach Level 29. Level 29-43: Swamp Lizards (Net Trapping)
Swamp Lizards give much more Experience than Tropical Wagtails and are quite reliable. You may set up two Traps at first and then three Traps at Level 40. Bait is not necessary. You must catch 253 Swamp Lizards to get to Level 43. Level 43-57: Spotted Kebbits (Falconry)
This is where the real grinding begins. Though Spotted Kebbits give much less Experience than Swamp Lizards, they are very quick and easy to catch, though you will have to catch a lot of them. Orange Salamanders give over twice as much Experience, but are not nearly as easy to catch as Spotted Kebbits. You must catch 1,471 Spotted Kebbits to reach Level 57. It's a huge number, and Falconry will get extremely boring, but it is the best way to train for now. Level 57-59: Dark Kebbits (Falconry)
Dark Kebbits give more experience than Spotted Kebbits, though there aren't as many in the Falconry Area. You'll need to catch 339 Dark Kebbits to get to Level 59. Level 59-70: Red Salamanders (Net Trapping)
You're probably pretty much fed up with Falconry by now, so if you want, you can train on Red Salamanders instead. This gives the best Experience when you are able to use three or four Traps. Bait is unnecessary. You will need to catch 1,801 Red Salamanders to get to Level 69. Level 70-99: Red Chinchompas (Box Trapping)
From Level 75 Red Chinchompas undoubtedly give the best Experience. Using four or five Traps, you will rake in the experience very quickly. Bait is unnecessary. To get to Level 99, you'll need to catch 46,404 Red Chinchompas. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
