Prayer is one of the most useful Combat Skills, but it's slow to train. It can help you with all other forms of Combat by boosting Attack, Defence and Strength, and at higher Levels protecting you from Range, Magic and Melee Attacks. There are also several other special Prayers, such as Stat Restore, Health Restore and Protect Item. Prayer is usually raised by burying Bones.

To activate a Prayer just click on the image in your Prayer Menu and a yellow circle will appear over it. You can only active Prayers that are highlighted, blackened Prayers are not available.

Ectofuntus

Members can increase the amount of Experience per Bone by using the Ectofuntus. The Ectofuntus can be found outside Port Phasmatys for a quick teleport you can use the Ectophial after the Ghosts Ahoy Quest.

By worshipping at the Ectofuntus you will receive 4 times the Experience you would normally get.
However the process of worshipping isn't too fast to balance out the Experience and the amount of time. To worship you will require a Pot of Bonemeal and a Bucket of Slime, both can be found at the Ectofuntus. The Slime is found in a Pool in the Basement below the Ectofuntus, use a Bucket on the Pool to receive a Bucket of Slime.

Bonemeal is received by grinding a Bone at the Grinder Upstairs at the Ectofuntus and collecting it into a Pot. The process is as follows:

When you have both Items you can worship at the Ectofuntus by doing so you will receive five Ecto-tokens. You can collect these by talking to the Disciples, remember to wear your Ghostspeak Amulet to be able to talk to them.

Some People prefer to grind all the Bones and collect all the Slime before worshipping, others prefer to worship immediately the choice is yours.

Prayer Boosting Items:

Some Items in Runescape give a special Prayer bonus when you have them equipped. A higher Prayer boost means your Prayer will drain slower, which means you can use it longer. Below is a full list of Items that boost your Prayer, but there are a few Items that are not mentioned on that list.

The first Item that is not listed on there is the 'Holy Wrench'.    The reason for this is because it gives no visible Prayer bonus, this Item when kept in your Inventory will allow your Prayer Potions to restore more Prayer Points. The amount of extra Prayer Points restored will save you one or two Prayer Potions on a full Inventory of Potions. This bonus is so small most People don't bother with using it. This item is obtained during the Rum Deal Quest.

The second batch of Items not mentioned on the list is the White Knight Armour and Weapons. Putting them all on there would make the list far to long. All of these Items add a +1 Prayer bonus except for the Mace, which is added to list. The White Knight Armory is available after the Wanted! Quest.

Prayer Books are mentioned in the list, there is a lot more to these Items. This information can be found in our Prayer Book Guide.

Morytania Training Ways.

Morytania offers Players various other ways of training Prayer, these are all Members Only. One of the most commonly used is the Ectofuntus which has already been mentioned above. Besides the Ectofuntus Players can also kill Ghosts in Mort Myre Swamp after the Nature Spirit Quest. Killing these Ghosts will result in 30 Prayer Experience for each kill.

Another way to train Prayer is by burning Shade Remains, which is part of the Splitbark Armour making process. The process of Shade Burning is taught by doing the Shades of Mort'ton Quest. More information about the Experience received and Logs needed can be found in our Splitbark Armour Guide.

Altars:

You can recharge your Prayer Points at any Altar across RuneScape, besides the normal Altars there are three special Altars.
  • The Prayer Guild Altar: This Altar adds +2 Prayer Points on top of the normal recharge. These extra two Points won't let you use a Prayer you can't use yet but it will let you use your Prayers longer.

  • The Nature Spirit Altar: This Altar adds +2 Prayer Points on top of the normal recharge. These extra two Points won't let you use a Prayer you can't use yet but it will let you use your Prayers longer. You can use this Altar after the Nature Spirit Quest.

  • The Elidinis Altar: This Altar adds +5 Prayer Points on top of the normal recharge. This bonus will work on top of your full Prayer Points as well, but will slowly drain away. You can use this Altar after the Spirits of the Elid Quest.
For the location of the normal Altars please refer to the Jagex World Map.

The Prayer Guild:

Players who have 31 Prayer can enter the Prayer Guild, this Guild is located on the second Floor of the Monastery. For more information about the Prayer Guild please refer to the Prayer Guild Guide.
