| Guide to Selecting Guides |

Have you ever walked around RuneScape and wondered what to do? Got bored of training a skill and decided to do a Quest? Ever wanted to raise your Quest Points? This guide is meant to help you choose what Quests to do. The guide gives advice, tips, and other important information that helps you complete Quests more efficiently. For more information on a specific Quest, please refer to the Quest Guide for that specific Quest. These are some things you may want to consider when starting a Quest: How much time do I have on my hands? If you only have an hour, or just a few minutes, you can do a quest. A quest that you have already started, or a simple quest, such as Elemental Workshop Quest or Fishing Contest Quest can be done in a short amount of time. These Quests are done in a close space and do not require a long block of time. Am I feeling tired, or am focused? When you are tired or sleepy, you may not want to do a quest with a complex plot, a puzzle or a battle against any sort of high level monster. If you are more focused, and have plenty of energy, you may want to try a Quest with a more complex plot. Do I have all the requirements for the Quest? This may seem to be a given, but some Quests have "hidden" requirements. For example, in the Tears of Guthix Quest, most guides say you need Level 20 Crafting, but you actually need Level 49 Crafting for a couple items in the quest. This is why it is always a good idea to look over a guide before attempting to do a quest. Do I know where this Quest takes place? One of the most frustrating problems in completing a Quest is not knowing where something or someone is located. Many people spend valuable time searching for cities, which they do not know where they are located. This is especially true for new members. Feel free to use the world map, or RuneVillage's interactive map to find the locations needed in the quest! Will I have to fight any high level monsters? Make sure you skim over the guide to make sure there are not any high level monsters that you will need to prepare for. For many Quests, people believe if you have at least Level 43 Prayer, you can defeat any monster. This is not always true. For example, in the Monkey Madness Quest, you have to kill a creature that can hit up to thirty damage with both Magic and Melee. For this type of monster, you cannot only rely on prayer. These are tips for completing Quests faster - Have the items required for the quest before you begin. Having the items before you start is a good way to avoid being distracted while you are doing the quest. Running to smith yourself an item, for example, can easily get you off task. - Set a goal for yourself. Many people find that Quests are boring. It is always better to finish a Quest, instead of just stop in the middle and put it off too later. Many people say they will finish later, but never do! - If the quest is very long, like Mourning’s End Part I Quest and Mourning's End Part II Quest, try to do them in small pieces. Doing quests in small chunks helps your body's health and lets you focus better. Using a computer screen for too long can hurt your eyes, especially late at night. - Ask a friend who has done the Quest previously about the Quest. Another place you can post is in the RuneVillage's Quests Forum. Some people may have very useful information that may not be found in guides and manuals. - Always have a way to leave immediately where you are. Amulets of Glory and one item teleportation items like an Ectophial are two of the easiest methods. This is in case something comes up and you have to go, or you just mess up and get lost. It is always a good idea to have some form of a way to get out of the dilemma. - Try doing Quests without using the guides. After you finish a Quest without a guide, you feel much more accomplished than you would be if you completed the same Quest but with a Quest Guide. If you have never done a Quest without using a guide, give it a try! If you cannot complete the Quest, you can always still refer to a guide. - Always have a some spare money with you., in case you forget an item, or need to pay for a boat ride or another sort of transportation. Around a thousand Gold Pieces is more than enough. - Remember to use the Auto-Retaliate function! People rarely use this function, although it is very helpful during Quests. If you are doing Quests with many monsters with high levels or monsters in a multi-combat area, Auto-Retaliate will make your life a living nightmare. Auto-Retaliate makes your character attack the monster that hit you. This can be very frustrating, and even cause you to die. - Never overestimate your abilities. If the quest requires you to fight a monster that is a very high level, do not wear fancy armor that you do not want to lose. It is better to waste 50 000 Gold Pieces on Sharks and Potions, then end up in Lumbridge or Falador without your precious Abyssal Whip! - If you have a friend who has not done the quest you have selected, ask him or her if he or she wants to do the quest with you. Quests are always more fun with a friend, and they can help you out if you get stuck or need that extra shark to stay alive. But try not to rely on your friend too much! - Always bring goods (cakes are a good choice because they heal just as much as lobsters but can be eaten in three pieces) and Anti-Poison Potions. You never know when you might run into a monster that can hurt you or poison you. - Remember to have fun! |
