![]() The Blast Furnace is located in Keldagrim. Travel there via the Mining Carts in the Dwarf Mines. The Furnace is located in the extreme northwestern side of the City. You only need to start the Giant Dwarf Quest to enter the City, completion of the Quest is not required to gain access to the Furnace. The Furnace is so efficient that smelting Bars only takes half as much Coal as with a regular Furnace. While the Furnace is in use everyone helping to run it will gain Experience in their respective Skill and in Smithing. ![]() Job Descriptions: Gauge Reading: No minimum Skill requirements for this Job This Job requires you to tell the Person operating the Air Pumps when to stop or start Pumping. ![]() White: Tell the Air Pump Person to keep Pumping or “Go.” Green: “All ok.” Red: Tell Air Pump Person to stop Pumping. ![]() When Parts break it will alert the Gauge Reader. ![]() Gauge Reader yells “BP.” short for “Broken Part” for a Fixer to attend to the problem. Air Pump Operator: Minimum 30 Strength Level to use Experience gained in Strength and Smithing ![]() Very simple Job, Pump until the Gauge Reader says "Stop". Continue Pumping when they say “Go”. This Job can be a bit dangerous if the Gauge Reader is not paying attention. If the Gauge reaches full red the Furnace explodes and the Air Pump Operator gets hit for damage, maximum I’ve witnessed is fifteen Hit Points. Not enough to kill you unless you’re already very low on Health. Experience rate 120 Strength Experience per minute as long as the Pipes are in good order. If a Pipe breaks you will continue Pumping but do not gain any Experience in Strength until it is repaired. If you have Pumped for one hour non-stop you will gain 8,000 Experience in Strength, not a very efficient method to train. Furnace Fueling: ![]() Minimum 30 Firemaking to use… Experience gained in Firemaking and Smithing Tool Required: Spade (spawns nearby) The Furnace runs on steam which requires heat to be produced. Pick up that Spade and click on the Coke Bin to get a Spade full, then click on the Stove to deposit the Coke. ![]() Five Experience Points to Firemaking per use. Conveyor Cycle: Minimum Level 30 Agility to use Experience gained in Agility and Smithing ![]() Just sit on it and Peddle away. It requires no additional clicking; however, it drains your Energy at the same rate as if you were running. When your energy hits zero it automatically takes you off the Cycle. Agility Experience rate is 120 per minute unless the Cogs or Belt needs repairing. When either breaks you will continue to Pedal but gain no Experience until they are repaired. It is an extremely slow and boring way to gain Agility Experience so I do not recommend using Agility Potions, save them for the Agility Courses. Fixer: Minimum Skill 30 Crafting required Experience gained in Crafting and Smithing Repair Pipes, Cogs or Conveyor Belt as needed. 50 Experience Points to Crafting for each repair Required Item: Hammer (spawns in the Room) Two possible Pipe locations on either side of the Pressure Gauge. Steam will rise from the broken Pipe needing repair. ![]() Cogs and the Conveyor Belt are located near the Cycle. When broken the Conveyor will stop and the Parts needing repair will vibrate. ![]() That is all required to keep the Furnace running. However, without Smiths putting Ore on the Conveyor no one working the Furnace gets any Smithing Experience. Remember this is a team effort! The amount of Smithing Experience everyone gains depends on the amount of Ore deposited on the Belt. In other words the more Smithers using the Furnace the more Smithing Experience Points the Team gains. Smithing on the Furnace: The Furnace is free to use for anyone with a Smithing Level of 60 or higher. Those with lower Smithing Levels will have to pay 2,500 Gold Pieces for ten minutes of use.
![]() To use the Furnace put Ore on the Conveyor Belt which deposits it into the Melting Pot. Ore can be purchased from Ordan who is standing next to the Belt. He stocks a maximum of 100 of each Ore below Adamantite. ![]() Every 30 seconds a Miner comes in with a Sack full of random Ore and delivers them to Ordan for sale or storage. The Miner announces what Ore and how many he is delivering. When the Bars are ready they will come out of the Pot in molten form. To get them either wait about a minute for them to cool or grab a Bucket and fill it from the nearby Sink. The higher Level Ore require longer time to cool so a Bucket of Water is the fastest method. Rune Bars take over five minutes to cool on their own. ![]() When the Bars have cooled they will turn from red to grey color and you can click on them to remove them from the Furnace. When you do this screen comes up. ![]() It shows the number of Bars you have made and the number of Coal you still have in the Furnace. The Furnace holds a maximum of 28 Bars regardless of which type and a maximum of 201 Coal Ore. If you have deposited 201 Coal with more in your Inventory you will not be allowed to deposit more until the total goes below the maximum. Ore other than Coal can still be deposited. Anvils are located nearby to Smith your Bars. You can either High Alchemy your Products or if you make Mithril or higher sell them to Jorzik who is located next to the Anvils. ![]() Tips for Smithers: This method worked well for me: Items Needed: Fire Staff, Hammer, Bucket, 200 Nature Runes, 1,000 noted Coal, 1,000 noted Iron and 50,000 cash. Sell the noted Ore and buy it back in unnoted form then deposit on the Conveyor Belt. As the Bars come out, cool them with a Bucket of Water, Smith them on Anvils nearby and High Alchemy them. Pay close attention to the Miner delivering Ore, I try to time my actions so that I’m standing next to Ordan as the Miner arrives. Watch closely to what Ore he delivers. If he delivers Coal buy all your Inventory will hold and quickly place it on the Conveyor. If the Mithril supplies are full buy twenty if you can Smith them. I only buy Mithril Ore when the stock is to its maximum of 100 Ore. It sounds expensive but it’s not; I actually make a profit over the cost of the Ore when I High Alchemy the end Products. Remember it only takes half the normal amount of Coal to make the Bars so this method does increase the profit margins on alched Items. While you’re there talk to some of the Factory Workers that are near the Entrance to the Blast Furnace, some of them are quite funny. ![]() |
