So you want to own the most powerful Ranged Weapon in the Game? A Cannon doesn't come cheap, it is the most powerful Ranged Weapon known in RuneScape. The first thing all aspiring Canoneers will need to do is to have completed the Dwarf Cannon Quest. Then you can buy the Cannon from the Dwarven Engineer at the exit of the Dwarven Mines or from fellow RuneScapers. Either way the Cannon comes in four parts: Cannon Base ![]() Cannon Stand ![]() Cannon Barrel ![]() Cannon Furnace ![]() Each of these Pieces can be bought separately from the Dwarven Engineer for 200,000 Gold Pieces, or you can buy the whole Cannon at once for a price of 750,000 Gold Pieces. If you decide to buy the Cannon from the Dwarven Engineer, I would recommend buying all the Parts at once, it is far cheaper that way To set the Cannon up you simply need to choose the Set-Up Option on the Cannon Base. You then use the Stand on the Base, then the Barrel and finally the Furnace. After you complete this quick process you'll have a set-up Cannon. A set-up Cannon looks like this (please also note that the Cannon takes up a 3x3 square and that you can't set the Cannon up if you don't have enough room). ![]() However, before you can use your Cannon you will need Ammunition. Making Ammunition is simple and quick. All you need is a Cannonball Mould and a number of Steel Bars. You can obtain the Cannonball Mould from the Dwarven Engineer. Then all you need to do is use Steel Bars on a Furnace with a Cannonball Mould in your Inventory. You can make 4 Cannonballs from each Steel Bar.Once you use your Cannonballs with your Cannon it will start to revolve (the Cannon uses 30 Cannonballs at a time). The Cannon will attack anything in range and will hit each Target for powerful amounts of damage. The highest I've seen a Cannon hit is a 30. There are no minimum Ranged requirement for the Cannon, but note that the better your Ranged is the more likely it is that you'll hit harder. Once a Monster attacks you the Cannon will continue to revolve, but only hit the Monster that's attacking you. A Cannon is good for Ranged Experience, but bear in mind that it gives 2 Ranged Experience for every hit instead of the usual 4 Experience and no Hitpoints Experience. After you're finished with your Cannon you can pick it up. Any leftover Ammunition you will get back. Unfortunately after around 400 Cannon shots the Cannon decays and disappears. Luckily you can get a new Cannon by talking to the Dwarven Engineer again. However if you drop, sell or trade the Cannon then you cannot get a new one for free (you have to re-buy it for the original price). There are some places you cannot set up your Cannon. They include: The Kalphite Queen’s Lair The King Black Dragon Lair The TzHaar realm As someone who owns a Cannon you may be asking yourself where the best place to set up your Cannon is; so you can get the maximum benefit from it. Here are a few good and favored Cannon spots. Dagganoths’ Lair This is probably the most used Cannon spot in the Game. To obtain access to the Dagganoths’ Lair you must first complete the Horror From The Deep Quest. After completing the Quest you can go down the Iron Ladder and through the Door and you will find yourself in a Dagganoth infested Cavern. In fact, there are so many Dagganoths in the Cavern that you can shoot away at them non-stop all day (or until your Cannon decays). The Dagganoths have a relatively low defense as well so you can hit high numbers to boost up your Ranged level. The most advantageous thing though is that when given Dagganoths as a Slayer assignment you can kill them very rapidly and get up your Slayer level very quickly. Dust Devils Like the Dagganoths the Dust Devils are a great place to train Ranged with a Cannon. Dust Devils are located in the same Dungeon where you need to get the Smoke Diamond from for the Desert Treasure Quest. For a Slayer assignment you can whip through them with a Cannon. An added bonus is that Dust Devils can (very rarely) drop the Dragon Chainmail Body, which is extremely valuable. ![]() Hellhounds Hellhounds are a common Slayer assignment, and once again the Cannon shines. Hellhounds can be found in either the Dungeon southeast of Ardougne or deep in the Taverley Dungeon. A Cannon can be set up in the Taverley Dungeon either above or below the Ledge to hit them without you getting attacked. Hellhounds drop level 3 Clues as well so if you kill a multitude using your Cannon there is a strong chance that you could be off on a profitable Treasure Trail. ![]() The Cannon is a very productive Weapon, but it is of best use when placed in an area with a multitude of Enemies such as the Dagganoths. Cannons are very often used as an aid with the Slayer Skill because a Cannon speeds up the process significantly. Happy Hunting! |
