Dueling Arena Guide

By: Lord Thief

Edited By: Euph and King Zonk

Location : East of Al Kharid (For a more specific location check in the Agility Guide.

At the moment the Dueling Arena is the only place where you can duel in a ‘controlled’ environment, only risking what you Stake, in all of RuneScape.

The Dueling Arena has, of course, everything an Arena needs.

For those who are new to the Arena there is an Instructor at the Entrance of the Dueling Arena, who will answer a few Questions.

Right next to the Entrance is a Score Board. This Board shows the Outcome of the last ten Duels.

When you walk clockwise around the Arenas you end up at large Building. Inside this Building is the Hospital, this is also where you are revived or receive a free Medical Examination if you suffered no injuries during the Duel.

Let's hope you don’t end up on these.

Inside the Hospital you will find a small Chapel and several Nurses. The Nurses will completely restore your Health and Prayer after each Duel and never charge for their services.

Right next to the Hospital you will find a Bank Chest and a Rotten Tomato Shop.

These Tomatoes can be thrown at dueling People from the Balcony, they have a large Stock and only cost 1 Gold Piece each plus they don’t make stains!

Here's a Picture of me Throwing a Tomato, you can just barely see it in my Hand.

The Arena Itself

The Arena is comprised of six small Arenas.

Three of them have Obstacles and three of them do not.

Here are two Pictures taken from the Balcony.

This is the Obstacle free Arena.

And this is the Arena with Obstacles.

Now on to dueling itself!

When you Accept to duel someone a Screen will pop-up displaying the Options for your Duel. This is also the Screen where you can decide if you want to Stake and which Items you want to Stake.

Note: Move your Mouse over the accept button and review the Options that are checked! I repeat … Do NOT accept until you carefully review the Options checked!!! It is very common strategy for an Opponent to quickly change Options at the last second and you automatically accept without realizing what was done.

I will now explain the Options:

  • No Forfeit: This means you and your Opponent can’t run out of the Arena.

  • No Movement: This means you can’t run around inside the Arena.

  • No Weapons: This will disable all Weapons meaning you can only fight with your Limbs.

  • No Armour: This means no Armour can be used.

  • No Jewelry: This means no Amulets or Rings can be used.

  • No Ranged: You cannot use Ranged Weapons.

  • No Melee: You cannot fight with your Hands or Weapons.

  • No Magic: You cannot cast any Magic Spells.

  • No Special Attack: This will disable all Special Attacks, even if you activated them before the Duel.

  • Flower Power: This means you will fight with Flowers instead of Weapons.

  • No Potions: This means you can’t use a Potion, if you used a Potion before the Duel it will be cancelled as soon as you enter the Fight.

  • No Food: You can’t eat during the Duel.

  • No Prayer: You can’t use Prayer in this Duel.

  • Obstacles: This will place you in an Arena with Obstacles.

After you and your Opponent agree on which Options you will fight under, click on Accept and you will be taken to the second Screen.

#1 This is where you will see the Items you Staked.

#2 This is where you will see the Items your Opponent Staked.

#3 This displays under which Options you will Fight; again – re-check this carefully.

#4 This displays how you will Fight. For example with Ranged or Melee.

Always make sure that everything is in order before you click Accept.

Once both of you have Accepted you will be teleported into an Arena.

Your Opponent will be displayed by a large yellow Arrow above his Head.

Your Opponent and you will count down from three to zero and then the Fight is on.

In these three Seconds you can ‘pot-up’, select Run or Walk, turn Auto-Retaliate on or off and choose the right Weapon and Fighting Style.

There are two ways to win. Either you kill your Opponent, or you or your Opponent runs out of the Arena by one of the two Trapdoors on either side of the Arena.

When you win a Screen will pop-up displaying the Items you won and your Opponent’s name and Combat Level.

There are Several Items which are linked to Dueling, two of these Items are Rings:

    The Ring of Recoil:

This Ring will strike back your Opponent with 10% of what he strikes you with. So if he hits you with a ten your Ring will hit him with one. After forty Hits the Ring will break and disappear.

    The Ring of Dueling:

This Ring will teleport you to the Dueling Arena or Castle Wars eight times and then it too disappears.

    Credit:

A big thank you to Euph for giving me the honor to duel with him.

Train hard and you will be on a killing spree in no time! Happy Dueling!
