The History of Flowers
Not much is known about how the special Flowers came to be, but after researching several books on Baxtorian and Elven Culture, I have pieced together what may be the History of the Baxtorian Flowers and the Mithril Seeds. Long ago, sometime in the Second Age, there was an Elven King named Baxtorian. He and his wife, Glarial, were said to have been together for over a century. They lived together and spent much time learning about Nature and helping to preserve it. They made a home for each other under a Waterfall, north of present-day Ardougne. However, dark forces and enemies of Gielinor started to invade the Realm eventually, and Baxtorian left on a five year campaign to preserve the land. When he returned, he found that his people had been killed and Glarial taken by the enemy. He searched year after year for his love, until finally he gave up and returned to the home under the Waterfall. It is said that once he went in, he never came out. The only other person with the power to open the Waterfall was Glarial and no one else. Baxtorian and Glarial were masters of nature. They could sculpt mountains, dig valleys, and create entire rivers at will. They also perfected Rune lore, but that's another story. The story behind how they created the Mithril Seeds is not clear, but as far as I could gather, Glarial's favorite creation was the flower. She loved to walk in the spring and see the flowers blossom around her. The flower was the most revered and respected of all plants. However, once she was kidnapped, the flower lost its glory and became the sad generation we see today. When Baxtorian went back to his home under the Waterfall, he remembered the flowers and imbued their power into special Seeds, which were made from Mithril, as a token to Glarial. (Another theory is that Guthix saw what had happened, and it was he who created the seeds.) When Baxtorian died, word of the Seeds and the Treasure somehow leaked out into the countryside. People tried to dig into the Waterfall in an attempt to find the Treasure. The power of the Waterfall could not be matched, however, and Baxtorian's Treasure was safe for now. Far later, after the Third Age, some very strong and determined adventurers found that they could enter the Waterfall by using a special Amulet that they discovered in Glarial’s Tomb, south of the Waterfall. The Mithril Seeds were plenty, but each adventurer took only forty of the Seeds, so future generations could experience the Treasure. When planted, the Seeds sprung up instantly and brought forth the fabled Flowers of old. The Legends Guild soon took sight of the Treasure, and began to sell them to Legends Guild members. The Treasure of Baxtorian had finally been found. More information on Baxtorian, Glarial, and the Treasure may be obtained by reading the Book on Baxtorian obtained during the Waterfall Quest. Flowers in General Today, after completing the Waterfall Quest, adventurers may find that they too can have a share of the Mithril Seeds and their power. Honouring the tradition of old, each adventurer can take forty of the Seeds and leave the rest for others. The Legends Guild also sells Mithril Seeds for 300 Gold Pieces each to the privileged members. Although the Flowers can be wielded, they are not particularly strong do not pose well in combat, although the Duel Arena has set up a special type of duel, “Fun Weapons”, for using Flowers. There are nine types of Baxtorian Flowers. They are Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Lavender, a Red-Blue-Yellow combination, a Lavender-Mauve-Sky Blue combination, White, and Black. Several of the flowers are quite common, but others, such as White and Black, are considerably rare and can be sold to other players for a large sum of Gold Pieces. Players who attempt to use Spells to turn the Flowers into Gold Pieces may soon find that the yields are not as great as they believed (Sixty Gold Pieces for High Alchemy, Forty Gold Pieces for Low Alchemy). Recently, a Flower Girl in Miscellania has come across the Red-Blue-Yellow Flowers, and is selling them for fifteen Gold Pieces. However, you must complete the Trials of the Fremmenik and gain their trust before you may buy the flowers.
