Tips:
- The first thing you need to understand is that making a Mage is the most expensive Character you can make. You will need a good source of income to support your training. This is an absolute in making a successful Mage.
- Runecraft until you can make Chaos Runes or better.
- DO NOT wear any Armor, only Mage Robes, (Blue, Black, Zamorak) Priest’s Robes don’t add any Magic bonus. If you are not a Member, wear a Priest Robe Bottom (for the prayer bonus) because there is no leg wear that adds a Magic bonus for you. If you are a member wear a Blue Wizard’s Robe and Hat along with a Zamorak Robe Bottom for the maximum Magic bonus.
How to Make a Mage:
- Start by making a new Character. While choosing the name, make sure you don’t put anything in the name that gives away that you’re a Mage (Ex: Gandalfpk2, Magicpk8963, T3hpkmag3, etc…). This Guide is only intended to get you started on the right track.
- While on Tutorial Island, build your stats up to Level 3 including Cooking, Firemaking, Magic and Defense.
- Keep your Bronze Equipment until you’re on the mainland and then sell it at the General Store for much needed Money. Instead of going straight to training Magic, do the Witches Potion and Imp Catcher Quests. Once that’s done, get some Mind Runes by either buys or making them (Runecrafting) and go start Player Killing (PKing). If you don’t want to go start Combat yet, then I suggest making about 5,000+ Mind Runes and obtain an Air Staff. Members and Non-Members go to the Jail located in Port Sarim and decimate the poor caged Creatures. This quite handily gains you Magic Levels without taking any damage to yourself..
- Always use the highest spell possible.
- If you’re a Member, craft Chaos Runes. You can also go to Karamja Island and pick Bananas to low-alchemy for Money.
- Alright, you are ready to go PKing. Wear a full Wizard Robe set and a Staff of Air. Withdraw about forty of your main Runes (Mind, Chaos, Death, Blood). You risk losing money very fast if you bring allot of Runes out with you. If your Opponent is a Warrior and is not using a Rune Weapon above Rune Long, blast them to Lumbridge with your Magic Spells. However, if they are using a more advanced weapon, beware.
- An Opponent who has trained mainly in one Skill is deadly to you unless you use one of the Spells like Bind, Entangle, or Snare on him. Bind is Non-Members, but Snare and Entangle are Member Spells. Bind holds your Enemy still for five seconds, Snare ten seconds and Entangle fifteen seconds.
- Watch out for Rangers, as they are Anti-Mages and pack a punch usually lethal. If you are alone, run for your life if you encounter a high Level Ranger/s. But if you are part of a group, take them out.
