The Rogues’ Den is a place for Agility and Thieving lovers to test their Skill in this massive playground. This Den is filled with over 440 Traps on a scale 5 times Lumbridge. You may wonder why such a massive place does not appear on the World Map, its simple. The Den is hidden away underground in Burthorpe. To be able to access it speak with the Bartender on the Burthorpe Inn and decline his offer for a Drink.
Once you're downstairs you will find everything a beginning Thief should need. It has a Bank, a Cooking Fire in case you require Food and a Shop. At this Shop you can purchase several low-level Metal Claws, some Picklocks and Stethoscopes. The last item increases your chance on the Wall Safes also located in the Den, to do so just use them on the Wall Safes. From these Wall Safes you can obtain Gems up to Diamond or just a few Coins, cracking them will give you 70 Thieving Experience. But these Safes are not unprotected, should you fail Spikes will shoot out of the Floor which can hit up to 6.
But cracking Safes is not why we are here, it’s the massive Maze we want! To be able to enter the Maze you must speak to Brian O' Richard who also walks the Area. If you speak with him he will inform you that you are not allowed to take any Items into the Maze. When you speak with him without any Armour he will present you with a Mystic Jewel.
This Jewel will act as your safe guard inside the Maze, should you at any time wish to leave you can use the Jewel to do so. As I’ve said before the Maze is filled with Traps, some require Agility others Thieving. This sounds easy enough but there is a downside, each Trap lowers your current Thieving or Agility level by 1. Those with a low Agility may want to focus on a Path with mostly Thieving Traps and visa-versa.
There is also one Trap in the Maze that doesn’t require either Skill. This is a particularly tricky Trap since it requires you to act fast. The Trap I am talking about is the ‘Flash Powder Trap’.
You goal is to flash the Guards with some Flash Powder (found at the Trap):
You can flash him by throwing it towards him, this will result in him being stunned for a few seconds. During this time you must run by him, if you want to reach your final goal you will always come across this Trap.
Your final goal is to reach the centre of the Maze, here you will find Wall Safes, but this time we have no Stethoscope. So obviously your goal is to have as many Thieving Points left by the time you reach the centre.
These Wall Safes can end up in two things, either you will Activate a Trap and end up outside with nothing or you will receive one of the following Rewards and an Experience Bonus.
The Map
If you click a specific Trap on the following Map, you will get more information about that Trap:
If you trigger a Trap, or get hit by a Blade, you will get teleported back to the Start Point (you won't take damage)
Here are the various Traps you will run through in the Maze, and how to get around them:
Traps
To get around these, right click them and click "Search". You will de-activate them for a time and you can walk over safely.
Spinning Blades:
You CANNOT get around these, just avoid them, they will hit you if you even get close.
Contortion Bars
To get around these, simply click them.
Pendulum
To get around these, click behind them, your Character will jump over it.
Wall Trap
To get around these, right click them and click "Search". This will de-activate them for a time and you can walk past safely.
Ledge Trap
Just click these and your Character will grab them and inch across.
Bridge
Click the Bridge to cross it.
Saw Trap
To get around these, click past them, and your Character will jump over it.
Rogue Guards
Rogue Guards are tricky. To get past them, grab a Bag of Flash Powder (Piles appear nearby to the Guards), and use it with the Guard. Your Character will throw it at the Guard, and you can run past safely.
Spinning Spikes
These are also tricky; do not touch them, instead, find Shelter in the nearby Alcoves while they pass by, then run to the next Ledge until you clear their Area.
Grill
Grills are just one-way Doors. They appear throughout the Maze, just click them to get past.
Hopefully you now have the wits about you to go and get some Rogue Armor
Good Luck!
