Runescape is a huge World and you can sometimes have trouble getting from one side to the other. Although walking among the beautiful, and not so beautiful, Landscape can sometimes be relaxing, you may have to get somewhere faster than your Feet can take you. This Guide lists the many ways you can use to get all over Runescape in the blink of an eye.

Walking and Running

First of all are the basic methods of going places, walking and running. Running is twice the speed of walking but uses more Energy. You can switch between them on the Player Controls Screen or run by holding down the control key when you click to move.

Energy is restored faster if you have a higher Agility Level. It does not depend on Weight to Restore. Weight applies to when you are actually Running. If you have 0kg and 100% you will be able to Run for a lot longer than if you have 50kg and 100%.

There are some Items that instantly Restore Energy:

Strange Fruit: These are obtained by the Strange Plant random event. Pick it and eat it to regain 30% Energy.

Energy Potion: Level 26 Herblore is required to make. Mix a Harralander with Chocolate Dust. Each Vial is made with three Doses and each Dose replenishes 10% of your Energy.

Super Energy Potion: Level 52 Herblore is required to make. Mix an Avantoe with a Mort Myre Fungi. Each Vial is made with three Doses and each Dose replenishes 20% of your Energy.

The Boots of Lightness deduct 4kg from your overall Weight. They can be obtained by taking a Lit Candle into the Temple of Ikov. Go Downstairs and Slash the Web at the end. The is no requirement to begin or complete any Quest.

Mint Cake: Obtained through Gnome Food Deliveries, restore 50% Running Energy

Gnome Airlines

These are Members Only and require the completion of the Grand Tree Quest. They are free to use once you have completed the Quest. All you have to do is talk to a Gnome Pilot and you can fly. If you are at Karamja, White Wolf Mountain or Al Kharid you can only fly to the Grand Tree. From the Grand Tree you may fly anywhere on the Map. You can only fly to the Digsite, but as the Glider crashes you cannot fly back.

Here is the Map that opens when you talk to a Pilot.

  • Ta Quir Priw = Grand Tree

  • Sindarpos = White Wolf Mountain

  • Lemanto Andra = Digsite

  • Kar-Hewo = Al Kharid

  • Gandius = Karamja

  • Feldip Hills - You need to have completed the One Small Favour Quest to unlock this.

Spirit Trees

To use these you must be a Member and have completed the Tree Gnome Village Quest. There are four in Runescape.

  • Northeast of the Khazard Battlefield
  • The Forest north of Varrock
  • In the Gnome Stronghold
  • In the Tree Gnome Village

Speak to either the Varrock or Khazard Tree to be teleported to the Tree Gnome Village Tree. The Tree Gnome Village one gives you the option of going to any of them and the Gnome Stronghold one allows you to go directly to any other once you have completed both the Tree Gnome Village Quest and the Grand Tree Quest.

If you are an experienced Farmer, you can also place your own Magic Tree on one of the following Patches:
  • Northeast of Port Sarim
  • Northeast of Brimhaven
  • Etceteria

Sailing

There are several Seaports around Runescape. From them you can take Boats to other Ports or decide to charter a ship, which is more expensive but provides you a wider range of ports.

Regular Sailing Offers

  • You can Sail from Port Sarim to Entrana and back for free!

  • You can Sail from Port Sarim to Karamja and back for 30 Gold Pieces each Trip

  • You can Sail from Port Sarim to Crandor during the Dragon Slayer Quest providing you have the Materials.

  • You can Sail from Ardougne to Brimhaven and back for 30 Gold Pieces each Trip.

  • You can Sail from Cairn Isle to either The Shipyard or Port Khazard if you have a Ship Ticket. They can be purchased in Shilo Village or from the Sailor who takes you there.

Chartering Ships

There are nine locations from which you can charter a ship. These locations are: Catherby, Port Sarim, Brimhaven, Karajama, the Shipyard, Port Khazard, Port Tyras, Port Phasmatys and Mos le'Harmless. At each of these locations you can also find a shop, but these items are mostly too expensive.

The price to charter a ship is quite hefty as well, luckily there are two ways to lower it: if you wear a Ring of Charos (a) or you have completed the Cabin Fever Quest, the prices halve. If you meet both requirements, you'll only have to pay a fourth of the original price!

Dynamic charter table

All values in the table are expressed in Gold Pieces.

Magic Carpets

The main "hub" of the Magic Carpets is just south of the Shanty Pass. Currently you can go to four other places.. See The Maps Below for the other places.

This is what flying looks like:

The Current Routes are...

  1. Bedabin Camp

This Station offers flights to the Shantay Pass

  2. Pollnivneach (hub)

The northern Station offers flights to the Shantay Pass (hub)
The southern Station offers flights to:
    - Menaphos
    - Sophanem
    - Nardah

  3. Ruins of Uzer

This Station offers flights to the Shantay Pass (hub)

  4. Shantay Pass

This Station is a hub and offers flights to:
    - Bedabin Camp
    - Ruins of Uzer
    - Pollnivneach (hub)

  5. Sophanem and Menaphos

These Stations offer flights to Pollnivneach (hub)

Here you have a Map showing all the Routes:

This is what a Station looks like.

There is a Monkey at each Station, talk to it and see if anything special happens.
He asked me to give him a Banana, I gave him one and he asked me to give him another. There doesn't appear to be anything special about these Monkeys.

Hopefully, this statement will come true soon:
Mr. Morrisane announced that, once the Carpets are fully operational, seven Routes will be available to Customers, with Pollnivneach and the Shantay Pass acting as travel Hubs.

Canoes

Another option to speed up traveling in Runescape is the use of Canoes. Using your Woodcutting Skill, you are able to fashion various qualities of floating apparatus to sail (or just float badly) down the River Lum. This makes traveling from Edgeville to Lumbridge considerably easier and far more picturesque.

You'll need at least Level 12 in Woodcutting to make a basic Canoe. As your Woodcutting Level increases, you'll be able to make better Canoes which can travel further. Expert Woodcutters can even create a Canoe so reliable that you can safely navigate underground portions of the River Lum for a one-way trip straight into the Wilderness itself!

Items Required

Any Hatchet/Woodcutting Axe

How to build your own Canoe

  1. There are four new transport sites along the Lum River that allow you to make a Canoe and travel the River. Just locate a Canoe Tree on the Lum River.

You may also speak to the Canoe Guides at each Station for more information about how to create a Canoe.

  2. You will be able to spot a large Tree called the Canoe Tree. Have your Hatchet with you and click on the Tree to chop it down. It will land on two Racks.

  3. Click on the Canoe Station again to select the shape you wish to create. Please note the boating destinations before you create your Canoe.

Stable Dugout Canoe 42 90 3 Canoe Stations away from current.
Waka Canoe 57 120 All Stations including the Wilderness destination.

  4. After carving your Log out into a floating device, click on it again to float the Canoe on the River.

How to ride the Canoe

  1. Once your Canoe is floating on the River click on it to Paddle down the River.

  2. You will have the Option to select which Canoe Station you wish to paddle to.

WARNING: The journey into the Wilderness is ONE WAY, so ensure you mean to travel there before you start paddling! There will not be a Canoe Station in the Wilderness.

  3. If you select the Wilderness location, you will appear in Level 35 Wilderness by a small Pool of Water with a Cave.

  4. When paddling, no one but you will be able to see you go down the River until you reach your destination. When you arrive at your destination, your Canoe will sink.

Miscellaneous Methods

There are other Shortcuts around that can be very useful.

  • Amulet of Glory

An Amulet of Glory is made from the Dragonstone Gem, one Gold Bar and one Ball of Wool. The Gem is obtainable from the Crystal Chest in Taverley (Or other Players) and must be cut prior to crafting the Amulet. When you have charged it in the Hero's Guild Fountain it has four Teleport Charges. When you rub it you have the Option of teleporting to either Karamja' Banana Plantation, Edgeville's Bank, Al Kharid's Palace or the Center of Draynor Village. Amulets of Glory do not work past Level 30 Wilderness.

  • Ring of Dueling

A Ring of Dueling is made from an Emerald and one Gold Bar. It has eight Charges and when in your Inventory you may rub it to teleport you to the Dueling Arena Entrance. Rings of Dueling do not work past Level 20 Wilderness.

  • Ring of Life

A Ring of Life is made from a Diamond and one Gold Bar. If you are wearing one you will be automatically teleported to Lumbridge if you fall below 10% of your total Health. These have only one Charge and do not work past Level 30 Wilderness.

  • Karamja Carts

After the Shilo Village Quest is complete you may use a Cart from Brimhaven to Shilo Village and the other way around by talking to the Owner and paying him 10-200 Gold Pieces depending on how many Gold Pieces are in your Inventory.

  • Ardougne Lever

North of the Gate separating East Ardougne from West Ardougne on the east side is a House with a Lever in it. Pulling it teleports you to another House in Level 52 Wilderness. Be wary of using this as many Player Killers lurk around the Lever in the Wilderness. You may also pull the Lever on the Wilderness side to teleport to Ardougne. This is the only Teleport that works in the deep Wilderness.

  • Prison Sentence

When you talk to Shantay at the Shantay Pass you can say to him "What is this place?" Then say "I'm a bandit". You will either be forced to pay five Gold Pieces or be sent to the Port Sarim Jail. This can be used to move from Al Kharid to Port Sarim quickly.

  • Quick Lletya Teleport

With the Teleport Crystal obtained from the Mourning's End Quest Part 1, you can quickly teleport yourself to Lletya. This item can be recharged by speaking to Eluned (The female Roving Elf), she will charge you a small price for the recharge.

  • Tree Gnome Village

If you talk to the Gnome at the northwest Corner of the Tree Gnome Maze he will take you inside the Village.

  • Rellekka Teleport

Once you have played the Lyre on Stage in the Fremennik Trials Quest you can enchant your Lyre by using another Raw Fish on the Altar southwest of Rellekka. It will now teleport you to Rellekka when played.

Raw Fish Added Amount of Enchants Added on Lyre
    Shark 2 Enchants
    Sea Turtle 3 Enchants
    Manta Ray 4 Enchants
Bass 2 Enchants (only when wearing Ring of Charos!)

  • Games Necklace

By enchanting a Sapphire Necklace you will get a Games Necklace. Rubbing this teleports you to the Game Room in Burthorpe. A Games Necklace has eight Charges.

  • The Magic Guild Teleports

Finally there are three teleports in the Magic Guild. The east one takes you to the Wizard's Tower. The south one takes you to the Dark Wizard's Tower north of the Makeover Mage. The west one takes you to Thormac the Sorcerer's Tower southeast of the Ranging Guild.
